I wrap May up in a shawl and tuck Taffy in beside her as I gently settle her down in bed, covering her with blankets to ward off the cold of early winter. "You rest well, alright?"
She nods, shifting slightly as she tries to find a more comfortable position in the bed.
I stroke her hair gently.
She gives me a contented sigh before finally shutting her eyes.
It doesn't take long for her to fall asleep.
May had taken longer than usual to fall asleep that night.
Of course, her insomnia made sense, since she didn't want to deal with bad dreams, but some sweets, warm milk, and enough hours of starting to fall asleep and jolting awake later, she was finally able to fall into a restful sleep.
I decide to take my opportunity to relax, too.
Roland arches a brow once May's finally set down to sleep. "It's hard gettin' em to sleep for a while."
