Chapter 218 - A Bad Dream

May wakes in our inn room that night, covered in a thin sheen of sweat and panting as she grips the blankets.

It takes her a moment to gain her bearings, and a longer one still to stop panting.

When she does, her breathing is still rapid and shallow.

"Auntie...?" She mumbles quietly, reaching her arm out in search of where I'm laying next to her.

I reach out, half asleep, and pull her against me.

"Shhh," I murmur. "I've got you. Just a bad dream."

May shivers and clings to me, but it's obvious from how damp her clothing is that whatever nightmare she'd just been having had been a particularly powerful one.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I ask her, kissing her brow lightly.

May shakes her head, sniffing.

Her lower lip trembles a little, but she tries to pretend nothing's wrong and bury herself further in my side.
