May, as it turns out, is in fact six years old.
She tells me when this I ask her.
She is not about to let me off the hook with my promise to sing for her before she eats every meal.
She bounces in her seat, eyes sparkling at me. 'Sing, sing~"
I hum. "Actually...Valentine, aren't you a minstrel? Self declared? Why don't you serenade the lady? She always has to have a song before she eats, you see."
Valentine blinks several times, caught off guard, before he looks between myself and May.
"--Eh? Really? You actually want me to sing...?" He stammers, stumbling over the request as he gives me a confused stare, as if he isn't certain if it was an actual suggestion.
May is now bouncing up and down in her seat, hands clapping in a delighted fashion.
"Yeeeessssss, Val, sing! Sing a song, Valy, sing, pleaaaase!" The small girl enthusiastically pleads, eyes round and bright with excitement and hope as she begs Valentine to perform.
