Chapter 199 - The Scenic Trip

May riding on the horse in front of me means that she spends a lot of time just gazing out at the world around her wide eyes that are bright with curiosity.

She's too small to be riding a horse herself anyway, but given she's got no need to worry about controlling the horse - or even falling off - her attention is completely on the scenery we pass by.

It's not the nicest scenery in the world, honestly.

And it's not been improved by the massive earthquake and storm that ripped through the land recently. A forest we ride through is more felled than it isn't. Farmland has been ruined, fences trampled and fallen, livestock missing to who knew where.

Still, her gaze is interested, downright fascinated.

She doesn't see the destruction or the pain, just the wonder of sights she'd not seen before, the thrill of adventure into the unknown.

I'm almost jealous of that.
