When the evening finally comes, we all gather in the living area of the manor for dinner.
Lucas pours wine into each of our cups and we take our seats at the table.
My chair faces the fireplace directly and its flames cast dancing shadows over the wooden walls surrounding us.
Dinner is a lively affair.
"You were looking through my books today, Diane." Lucas' voice jolts me out of my thoughts and I glance up with a raised eyebrow.
Lucas looks curious but also a bit wary. Like he suspects something I haven't shared yet.
He smiles hopefully.
"Did you find anything that caught your interest?"
"I..." I sigh softly, rubbing the back of my neck. "...Yeah. Found...something weird." I frown.
His eyes widen and he straightens up. "Really? What was it?" His tone changes slightly; excitement warring with apprehension.
