As I start making my way back through Torrens I hear footsteps following behind me.
"Lucas? Aren't you going to stay with Vivian?" I know the answer, but I'm still going to enjoy teasing him.
"Absolutely not."
My lips quirk up as I walk. "She seems desperate for your attention."
"She seemed like she had a problem when it came to boundaries more than attention. Also, I hate it when women do that."
I raise my eyebrows, looking over at him as his long strides catch up to me. "Do what, exactly?"
He seems annoyed by the question. Perhaps not. His expression reminds me of that time he'd said something derogatory about nobles. A vague sort of disgust.
"Act like neither of us have a brain. Like she's just some bubbly sex object and like I can't tell she's objectifying me." He brushes off the arm she'd held. "Using me for my pretty face is no better than using me for my money or position."
I don't respond.
I don't disagree.
