'They are right behind me.' The words echoed in Eva's ears but never left her mind. How would she save herself from such a terrible fate?
First, it was only Alex and the picture, and now there was Gael too in the picture? Was fate playing a game with her? How would she face that useless good-for-nothing son of a bitch who rejected her? And how would she distance herself from Alex who just wanted to use her?
From the corner of his eyes, Jayson could see the worry in the strange woman's face. Now that he has given thought, why would anyone reject such a beautiful woman for his mate?
Could she be an Omega? He knew most werewolves and especially an Alpha wouldn't want a weak Omega for a mate. However, he was a werewolf born and raised in a huge palace that mostly contained humans and perhaps a few werewolves who moved in to shield his mother.
Jayson held her tiny hands which were already trembling. He wanted her to relax and know that everything was under his control. As he slowly clicked the automatic window regulator, he embraced Eva shielding her with his body, and leaned in to kiss her on the lips.
Eva was stunned and for a moment tensed. Did she just fall from the frying pan to direct fire? She was running away from Alex because he wanted to use her but this? Wasn't it too far?
They barely knew one another and had just met for the first time yet he was willing to kiss her. How many women had he kissed before? 'Men are just the same, beastly with no humanity in them.
"Tell the two I am busy with my wife," He said in a husky voice full of pleasure and almost came out as a groan. "They can always visit the palace if they have anything to say." He pressed on the window regulator and slowly the window was fully closed.
The sound of their lips parting could be heard and before Jayson could adjust to his sitting position, a hot slap landed on his cheeks.
Byron who had long taken the driver's seat saw this through the rearview mirror and was shocked. "How dare you slap the..." He turned to glare at Eva with his blue-blazing eyes. Eva had long detected that these two men were werewolves due to their scent.
"Just drive, do not make a fuse," Jayson replied, and Byron gave Eva one last cold glare before starting the engine.
"What makes you different from him?" She asked not hiding her disappointment and disgust towards him but to her surprise, Jayson was wiping his lips and even pulled out a mouthwash to disinfect his mouth.
He didn't believe what he had just done. He was too hygienic to even touch a woman and so everything that happened today was shocking to him. First, the woman had hugged him so tightly yet he didn't do anything like push her away as he always did.
"I am healthy if that is what you are worried about," Eva said turning to face the other side. Jayson was shocked, did she see him? He had turned to hide his disgust from her because he knew one thing.
A woman's self-esteem was weak and one mistake would lower them to even hide from the face of the earth however, he would show no remorse to her. He had already gone against plenty of his rules for her sake.
"Stop the car, I reached my destination," Eva ordered and Byron immediately stopped the car looking at his boss who just nodded in return.
He opened the door gesturing for her to leave the car not hiding his rage for her. How dare she, a rouge slap the prince charming?
"Thank you for everything, sir." She said killing the silence but to her shocked expression, the vehicle was long gone.
"How could you let her get away with what she did Your Highness?" Byron asked Jayson remained silent maintaining an expressionless face and Byron could comprehend his unsaid words. 'Just mind your business dude.'
In the meantime, Gael hit his vehicle frustratedly. How the heck could she go missing? He looked at the guest room he had just been invited to spend a night in the light Pack.
This place was not his kind, with no liquor, and very absurd pack rules. There was absolutely no way he would spend a night here. Grabbing his car keys, he drove off to find himself a nice apartment to rent and continue his search for Eva the following day.
Eva reached out to her pocket searching her phone but it was nowhere to be seen. The clouds were getting darker and darker, she wouldn't risk being at any other man's mercy.
She grabbed a few coins from her phone and dialed a number. She called three times but no one picked up the call. Could it be that Kiana also didn't want anything to do with her?
Kiana was her strange friend she had saved from the vicious Tricia at a hunting site. She had once told her that she was not so good a she-wolf since she was a vicious rouge who wanted nothing but to end the entire existence of werewolves.
She sighed in frustration and tried calling one last time before the call connected. "Hello, yes who is this?" Eva froze, should she tell her? She was the only one she'd run to at the moment.
"Ahhhh, oh," Eva's face grew pale, her voice. She was with a man? Doing the deed this early? It was barely ten pm.
Having no choice, she finally responded. "It's me, Eva." She said hopefully the girl recalls.
"What's up, babe?" She asked.
'Babe?' Eva wondered since when did she become a woman's babe?
"I really need your help right now." She said. Her ears were filled with moans of ecstasy, groans from the man could also be detected.
"Faster my love," Eva lowered the phone and was about to disconnect when she finally spoke. "Where are you right now?" She asked her voice so weak and sounded almost like a child.
"At Valley Road Hotel." She answered.
"Make yourself comfortable, I'll pay for every damage you cause when I get there." She said and disconnected from the call. By her words, Eva could already tell what she meant. She wanted her to grab a drink for herself and wait for her.
Would she even show up today? She might be persuaded for the second third fourth and who knows maybe several more rounds until it was morning. It's not like she had a choice, she obediently went to the counter and ordered a simple energy drink.
Gael walked into the hotel and booked himself a room for the night. Something crossed his mind, he had to get wasted before throwing his tramp in bed.
