When Calix woke up this morning, his mood was somber as if dark clouds hanging above his head. His mind was preoccupied with the thought of meeting Nicholas.
The morning was bright with good weather but, his mood was far from his usual cheerful one. Watching his reflection in the mirror as he buttoned his shirt, he saw the smile didn't reach his eyes.
"Honey, you'll be fine."
Calix replied to Leslie's soft encouragement with a tight hug. She returned with gentle strokes on his back, once again reminding him of her faith in him.
Despite preparing himself to meet Nicholas in the detention center, Calix couldn't curb the uneasiness prodding in his heart. A mix of emotions was stirred within him.
Anger, determination and also a faint, reluctant pity for the man.
Calix understood the reasons driving Nicholas for revenge but, he wouldn't ever justify the man's heinous actions.
