"Oh, welcome back, Mr. Xu."
Calix waved one hand, acknowledging Mrs. An's greeting. His attention went elsewhere instead of the private caretaker.
Unable to believe his eyes, Calix couldn't pry his eyes away from the sleeping Leslie in the wheelchair. Putting both hands on his waist, he felt helpless laughter bubbling up his mouth.
"What's she doing here?"
Despite asking Aunt Wendy and Mrs. An, Calix's heart had already whispered the answer.
"Mrs. Charlene insisted on waiting for you. She told me and Mrs. An not to worry about her," reported Aunt Wendy. Her tone had a hint of laughter as she continued, "Seems like she can't wait to see you."
When Leslie said she would like to wait for Calix's arrival, Aunt Wendy and Uncle Raymond couldn't help but worry. Mrs. An was also the same. The former had never stayed up this late.
But, Leslie's insistence made the three older people relented.
