Shin selected his Ability
Armament: This Ability has two functions: a passive and active effect. Passive Effect: The User can save equipped gear as a set and store them within the Gates of Babylon. Active Effect: Allows the user to switch sets instantly.
He instantly scratched his chin at his skill's usefulness, but he dismissed it as a task for another time as he attempted to tap on the two locked abilities.
Every player had one Ability, and if they were lucky, through a once-in-a-lifetime experience, they could unlock a second, but starting with three and two being locked left him dumbfounded.
Shin shook his head, frustrated as the two locked abilities didn't react to his actions before he dismissed the window.
He reached out and picked up the following two items he received: an egg and a small crystal in the shape of a teardrop, examining them as windows appeared before him.
[Divine Beast Egg]
[Untradeable. Inert Beast Egg. Incubation time: 30 Days. Requires Portable Incubator.]
[Divine Spectral Dew Drop]
[Untradeable. A unique dew from the Grand Tree. Return it to receive a special reward.]
SGO offers players the option of either playing in teams known as parties or playing solo and utilizing a series of NPC teammates.
Shin reached for the two slips of paper underneath the pile and pulled them out. He learned they were vouchers as he read their descriptions.
[Feathered Shadowmane Cub Voucher]
[Untradeable. Due to no active nursery or stables, the cub has been transported to the Arcadia Stables.]
[Diamond Mercenary Contract Slip]
[Untradeable. Present to the Mercenary Guild in order to recruit a Diamond-Tier Companion.]
He picked up two of the sacks, opening them and receiving 250 Gold Pieces.
The world of Themiscrya has an ascending monetary system in which 100 Copper Pieces make a Silver Piece. A hundred silver makes a Gold Piece, and a thousand gold makes a Platinum Piece.
Shin grabbed the final two rewards from the Red Envelopes and examined the objects in his hands.
[Broken Sword]
[Untradeable. Exclusive. A relic of a past life. The sword is rusted and damaged beyond repair.]
[Unknown Platinum Coin]
[Untradeable. Exclusive. An unknown coin with the insignia of a lion as the head and an eagle as the tail.]
The final two items triggered a series of windows to open before him.
[Class Promotion Quest]
[Requirements: Rookie, Level 100, Broken Sword]
[Tasks: (1/6) Discover the secrets of the [Broken Sword] (0/1)]
[Main Scenario Quest]

[Tasks: (1/4) Travel to Arcadia and deliver the [Unknown Platinum Coin] to its owner. (0/1)]
'Level 100 as a Rookie?!?' Shin lamented silently, unsure how to complete this arduous task.
Every player starts as a Rookie and can select an archetype at level 5: Fighter, Mage, or Supporter.
Rookie was the most basic Class that could use all weapons, wear all armor, and learn from all Tier 1 skillbooks for players to research and test which archetype they wished to pursue.
Fighters were melee-based Classes that preferred to use physical weapons to fight monsters. Includes DPS and tanks.
Mages were magical-based classes that chose to cast spells to fight monsters and support allies. Has magical DPS and healers.
Supporters are odd classes that do not fight monsters directly but prefer to assist other classes. Includes production and gathering classes, as well as buffers and debuffers and slice-of-life categories like maid and chef.
The main draw of SGO was a proclamation from the developers claiming that each archetype had an unlimited amount of classes within it and was upgraded at levels twenty, fifty, and one hundred.
Shin stood up as the professor called for everyone to gather as they progressed through the castle town toward a large building.
They entered a pub with hardly a soul present inside and passed through the back door into a massive courtyard.
In the center stood three NPCs, a man and two women. The professor explained they were the tutorial NPCs that offered a handful of basic beginner stuff for players.
Everyone formed lines in one of the three tutors, interacting with them individually. Some students spoke with one instructor and then joined the end of the line of another.
"Greetings, Novice!" The man said with a smile, raising his hand and waving at him.
"I'm Shin. Nice to meet you!" Shin replied, holding out his hand, and the NPC introduced himself and shook his hand.
They conversed for a minute before he was shown his wares. Shin stood there and stroked his chin as he stared at available options.
Each instructor offered half a dozen skillbooks for ten silver pieces as well as four different equipment crates: Beginner Bronze Set for one silver piece, Beginner Iron Set for one gold piece, Choice Beginner Bronze Weapon Crate for one silver piece, or Choice Beginner Iron Weapon Crate for one gold piece.
[Beginner Equipment Crate]
[Tier: Iron]
[Contains a complete set of Beginner Armor.]
[Set Bonus: Increases Experience gained by 10% for each piece equipped.]
[Choice Beginner Weapon Crate]
[Tier: Iron]
[Select one weapon]
[Set Bonus: Increases Experience gained by 10% for each piece equipped.]
Shin spent 75 Gold Pieces purchasing all eighteen Skillbooks, three sets of Beginner Iron Armor Sets, one for fighter, mage, and supporter, and a Choice Beginner Weapon Crate for every weapon available.
Given his Ability and Class Promotion Quest, he was determined to take full advantage of his time in Academia City and learn how to use each weapon completely.
He equipped the [Fighter Beginner Iron Armor Set] and the [Beginner Iron Greatsword], joining the rest of his classmates standing in front of the professor.
"Oh my!" The professor exclaimed, placing her hand on her cheek and staring at the students, "I'm always so emotional whenever I witness a new class wearing the beginner sets…"
"Silence, Karina!" A short-haired bearded man wearing dark armor and a cloak shouted as he walked alongside a woman with long hair and wearing robes and a wizard's hat.
"James! Allison! I'm glad you were able to join us!" Karina said with a jubilant smile.
