Chapter 1 - Random Reincarnation Bullshittery

I died, apparently.

Who would've thought that going for a midnight walk while drunk will result in a bus hitting your body at 60 miles per hour.

Anyway that didn't end my story in any way. Just opened up another chapter.

How?

Reincarnation.

Unbelievable right? I got to live again after dying. Hopefully I get a good spawn point this time.

Maybe I get to reincarnate in a fantasy world and be a badass overpowered harem protagonist like those novels that I vomit in disgust when reading.

That would be cool, actually.

Maybe I get to live as a villain in an otome game or something. The genre is becoming pretty common lately, one of the most common subgenre of isekai.

Unfortunately my hopes and dreams were shattered for the nth time when I finally recognized where I am.

It's the dystopia I have come to hate and love, called "the present". Where people end up in debt before even graduating, where the poor gets poorer and the rich gets richer, where life just shoves its foot up your ass for no apparent reason and you can only vomit shoelaces for the rest of the week.

Hah, just kidding.

You'll be vomiting for a month.

Now then, who did I reincarnate as?

Yuzuru, a 5 years old Japanese kid. What a gift right? Being reincarnated as a Japanese! How could I not love being reincarnated in a society where people are expected to work 30 hours a day with its self-inflicted unaliving rate so high it has an entire forest dedicated for the action itself?

Wow, what a wonderful spawn point.

Fortunately I think I might be safe from that fate.

I have purple eyes. Yes, purple. I don't have any idea how. I have the typical black hair but my eyes are just plain abnormal.

And no one really thinks its weird. Why? Because they have abnormal eyes and hair color too. I'm just staying in my room most of the time but I have a hobby of looking out the window. I've seen people with orange hair and green eyes. And it looks natural.

That's when I discovered that I'm in an anime world.

Well, there's no other explanation for it. Japan? Check. Colorful hair? Check. Colorful eyes? Check.

This is going to be a jolly new life.

"Yuzuru, breakfast is ready!"

A gentle voice came from downstairs. Hearing it, I rolled off my bed and left my room.

I carefully went down the stairs, making sure to not fall off and get a spinal injury. This unpleasant body size is a massive pain in the arse.

Walking to the dinner table, I met up with 3 people; a gentle-looking woman, a stern bespectacled man, and a little boy about my age.

"Take a seat, Yuzuru." The kind woman moved a chair for me to take a seat.

"Yes, Mom." I responded, climbing up the slightly tall chair and joining the table.

The kind woman is my mother. Adoptive, anyways. They haven't said anything about me being adopted, probably because they think I cannot handle it, but I already figured it out long ago.

How, exactly?

The entire family has the same fucking hair and eye color. They have this gradient orange-red color for their hair and eyes. And I have black hair with purple eyes. I think it's pretty easy to guess how I learned I'm adopted.

I'm grateful, anyway. Would be hard to start my new life homeless and without food.

"Yuzuru, Kiyotaka, how are your studies going?" The stern man, my father, asked while taking a sip of coffee. His eyes behind his glasses has this glint to them, like a predator staring at its prey. I heard from Mom that he made a little girl cry with just a glance.

"It's going well, Father." I replied, munching on pancakes. I would really love a cup of coffee but my Mom won't allow me as I'm too young.

"Tsk." The little boy, Kiyotaka, just clicked his tongue and reply and stayed quiet while eating.

Yes people, family drama. Very cool.

"Kiyotaka, mind your manners." Father glared at Kiyotaka, causing the kid to shiver momentarily before bowing down his head.

"Sorry." He responded.

If you haven't guessed already, the little boy hates his father. Why? Because said father forced his children to start education at age 3. Yes, age 3. This man is fucking mad. I can recite the multiplication table up to 100 before I can even walk. He's that ruthless.

That said, I have no qualms against learning early. In fact, I like learning. So I put effort into studying under his watch.

"Learn from your brother, Kiyotaka. He's more mature than you are." Father spoke before going back to his meal.

What a good man, using comparison this early in a kid's life. Okay, try to guess. Since I liked studying and always followed Father's guidance, what do you think is my relationship with my brother who hates Father?

"... " Kiyotaka said nothing but his glare directed at me is worth a thousand words.

Yep, Kiyotaka hates me.

I understand why though, but I don't really mind it that much. Of course he's going to grow up with an inferiority complex as his father often compared him to his brother who is generally better than him, but that's how life is.

Okay maybe that's a bit harsh. However I have a role to play: the cold older brother who secretly dotes on his younger brother.

Why? Because fuck it that's why.

This is an anime world, so I'm turning my brother into a protagonist. And a protagonist often has this kind of backstory.

You can thank me later, Kiyotaka.

"Kiyotaka is just a kid." Fortunately, Mother came to the rescue by admonishing Father.

Yeah, tell him Mom. How dare he hurt Kiyotaka's feelings.

"Yuzuru is also just a kid." Father responded, not even looking up.

Okay that's fair but I'm secretly a reincarnated person with an entire 17 years of experience behind me. Of course, Mother doesn't know that so her response is only to stutter and lower her head.

One day this family is going to tear apart.

But then, it's an anime world. That's to be expected, really.
