Chapter 81 - Chapter 437

In the sky city of the Angel Country, there were no teleportation arrays. To reach the sky city without a means of communication, even Sages would need to search for the floating island's elusive location. However, while the sky city lacked teleportation arrays, it possessed a remarkable spatial tunnel for positioning, more akin to a guiding light.

Essentially, no matter where one was located, contacting the City of the Sky would trigger a guiding light to transport them there. This was the celestial marvel that saved countless angels when they ventured out. Furthermore, this guiding light could be divided into up to 100000 channels and could transport millions of individuals simultaneously. Clearly, this was one of the Angel Country's strategic artifacts, capable of being deployed swiftly across the entire divine land.

Moreover, this immense, super sky city possessed the extraordinary capability of instantaneous movement, although it consumed an immense amount of energy and was rarely employed.

In his previous life, William had witnessed this feat only once when the city directly crushed the imperial capital of the Human Empire.

His Royal Highness and Xiyan soared through the sky until they reached the boundless sea of clouds. Xiyan, dressed in a silver gown, extended her hand and summoned a radiant holy light. They waited silently, and William didn't inquire further because the process was quite straightforward. If the City of the Sky chose not to conceal its mystery, it could also manifest itself on the ground.

In no time, the City of the Sky responded swiftly. A holy light descended from the heavens, enveloping them. The next moment, it felt as if they had entered a space tunnel, a sensation where the outside scenery seemed to fade away. The speed was so breathtaking that it was difficult to discern whether they were inside a tunnel or hurtling through a beam of light.

Before long, William lost all sense of time and space, and when he reopened his eyes, the world before him had transformed. Countless white doves, no, they were angels with resplendent white wings!

They had arrived at the City of the Sky, which was situated on a massive island. Xiyan, as if visiting for the first time, Pointed proudly to the nine peaks ahead and spoke with reverence, "All nine peaks are known as the Peaks of the Divine. Each peak is inhabited by a sacred angel of the feathered race. They are venerable and possess long lifespans, earning them the admiration of our Angel Country. They are the ancestors of our people. Among them, Migaro, the Holy Angel on the central peak, is often referred to as the Angel of God. Not only did he build the City of the Sky, but he is also regarded as the angel closest to The Supreme God. Migaro was born in the mythical era, and it is thanks to him that we have all that the Winged Tribe enjoy today."

William cast a bemused glance at Xiyan, feeling as though the indoctrination methods of the Angel Country were starting to take effect. The angels on these nine peaks were undoubtedly holy beings. However, while there were more than just nine Sages among the Angel Country, those nine angels were undoubtedly the most powerful Sages of their kind. Nevertheless, it was quite a stretch to claim that Migaro was the Sage closest to The Supreme God. After all, the formidable Emperor of the Temple of Light had risen to a rank akin to The Supreme God himself, and he was not one to be trifled with.

Furthermore, there lies the sprawling Angel City beneath the nine towering peaks, housing tens of millions of high-level and master angels.

William followed a petite angel, who led him deeper into the immense Angel City. They meandered through the labyrinthine streets, occasionally doubling back on their path. William couldn't help but inquire, "How many times have you been to Sky City, and do you know the way so well?"

Xiyan's face reddened slightly, and her eyes showed a hint of confusion, but she replied earnestly, "Just follow me. After all, you're here to buy pumice stone, aren't you? Even if I get lost, I'm still your best bet."

"What's the worst that can happen? I just spotted the diplomatic hall a moment ago," William said with a wry smile. He had visited Sky City more times than Xiyan.

Xiyan had been to Sky City twice: once when she reached the Advanced Level, and again when she ascended to the rank of master angel. The rest of her time had been spent in Dawn City, where she was born and raised by the Angel Race. Her purpose was to ensure that the Angel Race, integrated into Dawn City, was not mistreated.

It was worth noting that very few angels made the choice to leave Sky City and return home. The majority of the Angel Race who achieved high-level angel status decided to remain in Sky City permanently. The city represented glory and the promise of a bright future. Additionally, the Angel Race's soul inheritance, combined with the continuous influence of angelic propaganda, offered substantial support.

William could see through her facade but decided to continue their stroll, taking in the sights and searching for memories of years gone by. Suddenly, he looked up at the sky.

Sky City now stood at a height beyond the imagination of ordinary people. Above them, a dark blue sky held a sea of stars that seemed to pierce the atmosphere. Yet, as an epic Professional, William felt no discomfort at this altitude. Still, something about the height felt unusual.

He mused, "Are the Angel Race forming an alliance with aliens now?"

With Xiyan by his side, William discreetly explored the city without drawing the attention of many angels. Sky City didn't bar outsiders, but it was Forbidden to stay for extended periods without an angel card. Settling down in Sky City was impossible unless one grew wings – an aspiration William had yet to fulfill.

Eventually, Xiyan couldn't bear the uncertainty any longer. She approached a male angel and inquired, "My friend behind me is looking to buy pumice stone. Do you know where we should go?"

The male angel, a high-level one, regarded Xiyan with a knowing look, stepped aside, and Pointed behind him, saying, "Go back."

In an instant, Xiyan vanished, too embarrassed to face anyone.

William just shrugged. "Sorry, her sense of direction isn't great."

"No worries. Plenty of women ask me for directions," the male angel boasted, turning away dismissively.

William raised an eyebrow, surprised at the angel's audacity. Who gave him the idea that he was handsome, especially in front of him?

As the angel flew off, hand in hand with another male angel, William suddenly understood.

Xiyan eventually guided William to the entrance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a structure not particularly imposing in size. However, as they stepped inside, it was clear they had entered a different world altogether.

This hall existed within a separate space.

Inside, William encountered humans, Elves, dwarves, and even sea people with fish-like gills behind their ears. They bore a resemblance to humans but hailed from an unknown origin.

All matters related to Sky City's trade were handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The process was straightforward: both parties would present their space rings for inspection, ensuring the quantity and quality matched before exchanging rings. The grand and ceremonial aspect was skipped altogether.

So, it was advisable to come prepared with a correctly-sized space ring, to avoid any losses.

As Xiyan looked around, perplexed, William gently patted her on the head and said, "I'll queue up at the trade counter; you can wait for me here."

"Okay," the little angel replied, glancing at the trading windows, resigned to her fate. There was no other way.

Apart from combat and cultivation, she was truly clueless about these matters.

Half an hour had passed.

A thousand pumice stones obtained.

But upon his return, William was greeted by an empty space where Xiyan once stood.

"Hmm, even if the little angel decided to leave, it's rather unreasonable not to bid me farewell," Prince William muttered, perplexed. As he was contemplating how to reach out to Xiyan, she suddenly appeared, eagerly grabbing his arm.

William's expression shifted. Had he developed some kind of allergic reaction? He had just purchased pumice stones, and these Gold Coins were undoubtedly not mixed with copper. Could someone genuinely be plotting his demise?

Had he mistakenly used the wrong Gold Coin?

Could it be that Odom, the Vice Mayor, was conspiring to seize the throne by assassinating him?

Xiyan, unaware of William's thoughts, simply stated, "It's a coincidence that you came with me to the conference hall. Right now, representatives from major forces across the seven continents are convening there."

"Seven continents meeting?" William's eyes sparkled.

Today, the Angel Race had earned a reputation as a super-neutral faction.

During times when the Angel Race wasn't at odds with the major races, significant gatherings of the seven continents usually took place in Sky City. This was especially true for matters concerning the Light Beam Pull, which was more convenient to address here.

However, these discussions were typically irrelevant to William, given his divinely appointed status, preventing him from getting involved in most affairs.

Nonetheless, now that he was here, it appeared that Xiyan could bring him along. It only made sense for him to listen and gain insights into the overall direction of future developments.

They flew together, and soon they reached a spacious conference hall prepared by the Angel Race for representatives of all forces.

At the gate, two formidable battle angels stood guard, screening humans and Elves alike.

Upon glimpsing Xiyan, who was a fellow angel, they didn't hinder her much, and William followed suit.

They entered through a side door and arrived at the back of the conference hall. They concealed themselves behind a pillar, where numerous individuals were also hidden behind similar pillars.

However…

It felt as though they were in the midst of a bustling marketplace.

Hundreds of Legendary figures sat in the front row, engaged in animated discussions, with spittle flying as they passionately argued. Many of them were rolling up their sleeves and glowering, as if they were ready to engage in a full-blown brawl.

Meanwhile, the saintly figures of the Angel Race on the podium had closed their eyes and appeared uninterested in intervening.

As a result, William witnessed a rare spectacle of Legendary figures engaged in a heated verbal dispute.

"Would you all just shut up? The Fourth Era has already begun, and the continental plates of the nine continents are slowly shifting. And here we are, still debating how to relocate marine life in the middle?" It was a Legendary dwarf, not particularly short, standing at a meter and sixty centimeters.

However, the female leader of the sea tribe, who could offer insights, responded, "Everyone bears the responsibility of safeguarding marine life. They reside at the heart of our nine continents. The gods' continents separated initially due to conflicts, and during that time, many marine creatures perished. Should the continents of the gods unite once more and condemn them to an undeserved death?"

"Some marine life is a minor issue. The consequences of uniting the nine continents are monumental. How will we distribute resources then? Should we launch a small-scale war and sacrifice over a billion lives from various races first?" An Elf with Pointed ears cast a disdainful glance at the Legendary human Professional who had spoken and sneered, "If you humans perish, we Elves couldn't care less."

"If the nine continents unite, and the various factions refuse to cooperate, war is inevitable. To minimize our losses, we must designate certain remote regions as battlefields."

"Yes, everyone should compile a list of kingdoms and neutral forces to abandon, especially those near the edge of the Continent. Race should not be a consideration at this Point. If we wish to spare them, we should relocate them in the coming years."

"We can address that issue later. What about the looming dark invasion five years from now? Hundreds of millions have already perished because of this. Do your forces intend to remain idle?"

"The speaker who claimed that the Humans lost over a billion lives should not concern us!"

"Well, in that case, don't blame us Humans for being ruthless."

"Who's afraid of whom? You've come from the central Continent to attack us. Bring it on!"

"Come on then, let's fight it out. I'm not satisfied."

"In a few years, we dragons will initiate a war. We must, for we cannot suppress our people's resentment without it!"

"We're ready to fight, but can you minimize the impact on most of the dragon blood?"

"It's impossible. If it weren't for you, our dragon race wouldn't be starting this war in the first place."

"Then maybe you shouldn't start the war. I fear that the dragon people will suffer heavy losses."

"We dragons…"

"We Humans are the dominant force now. Let's not dwell on the past."

"…"

The heated exchange of words continued, though it remained mostly verbal and did not escalate to physical confrontation, as was often the case during these seven continental conferences.

Given the multitude of representatives in attendance, most of whom possessed the power of Legendary Professionals, they were assigned the role of "mediators" for such discussions.

For now, they would allow the quarrels to persist for a few days, allowing the overall direction of the meeting to become clearer. Ultimately, it would be up to the Sages to decide the meeting's outcome.

Little did William know that the epic missions he had undertaken were products of such gatherings. These major factions' representatives seemed to be well-informed about the impending dark invasion and the onset of the Dragon Rebellion.

William suddenly found himself questioning the purpose of his life, realizing that perhaps he had been manipulated like an actor in a play.

However, he couldn't help but interject, "Is there a plan for the Angel Race to assert dominance over the Continent and overthrow a human empire?"

William raised an eyebrow, curious to know more. It seemed that the decisions made in these discussions did not necessarily determine the life or death of certain Sages. Tasks related to their fates appeared to be random.

"Tut, tut, beneath the Sages, we're all just pawns…" William's highness shrugged, not displaying much emotion. He was merely here to listen and gather any potential information regarding future missions.
