Kalia had proven her hypothesis: healing magic accelerates cellular differentiation and proliferation. More detailed analysis would require precise, quantitative clinical trials, but for now, this was a significant step.
Continuing to use healing magic to maximize workout effects was an option. However, Kalia aimed higher, seeking more advanced applications.
The current form of healing magic was too wasteful. The spells were complex, and the required mana was substantial. Simplifying existing spells proved futile as altering even a single element disrupted the entire magic.
Kalia sought a magic that specifically targeted bruises, skin tears, or muscle damage individually. This was still a research area even for the academy's renowned scholars, posing a challenging endeavor for the young and relatively inexperienced Kalia.
However, she had an advantage over them: her knowledge of Earth's human physiology and biomechanics.
Though not her specialty and far from an expert's level, Kalia had delved deeply into these areas. Her dream was to push the limits of the human body, and for that, she needed as much knowledge as she did physical prowess.
Upon hearing Kalia's ambitious dream, the magic tutor couldn't help but laugh.
"Lady Kalia, that's a field even our esteemed professors find challenging. Of course, I will assist as much as I can if you wish, but I must admit, my help in that area will be limited."
His laughter wasn't mockery but rather a reflection of positive support and admiration for the young girl with lofty aspirations.
It was akin to a teacher's look at a young student who dreams of becoming a scientist and going to the moon. The only difference was that Kalia was not just any young student; she had already 'been to space.'
"What will we need going forward?"
"The biggest challenge, as with all magic, will undoubtedly be trial and error. Healing magic, like every other kind, requires countless attempts and failures. That's why hospitals are at the forefront of researching healing magic."
Kalia tilted her head at the tutor's words. Was so much trial and error truly necessary?
The history of magical trauma treatment spanned thousands of years, surely resulting in an abundance of data.
Why not form and test hypotheses based on existing data, instead of repeating experiments? Wouldn't that significantly reduce the number of trials needed?
Questions led to more questions. Then it dawned on her.
She was thinking of scientific methodology and statistical hypothesis testing! And these were modern research methods on Earth, with a history of less than 200 years.
'These concepts don't exist in this world yet.'
She realized her misconception. Just because they had magic and hot water showers didn't mean other technologies were advanced beyond the 19th century.
On the contrary, the extreme convenience of magic might have hindered the development of certain technologies.
Even society was a mix of progress and stagnation. There was an established bureaucratic system with strong central governance, yet hereditary feudal lords still existed.
Realizing the depth of her thoughts, Kalia deliberately redirected her mind. She was just an individual, a child, and didn't wish to delve into the vast discourses of societal structure and peculiarities.
Redirecting her focus, Kalia returned to her earlier train of thought, extending it further. After all, it was research that even PhDs were conducting. Wouldn't they eventually develop more convenient methodologies?
'Unity is strength. Many hands make light work. Too many cooks spoil the broth?'
Considering it more, a ten-year-old with limited magical knowledge, even with her understanding of physiology, wasn't likely to develop these concepts alone. After organizing her thoughts, Kalia spoke up.
"Teacher, what if we try to address these trial and error processes like this?"
"Yes, Lady. What have you thought of now?"
Thirty minutes later, the tutor politely excused himself and stepped out of the room.
Upon leaving, he sprinted towards the Grand Duke's office, screaming in excitement, only to find out that the Duke was away in the capital. He then hurried to the Duchess's office.
"Lady Kalia is a genius! She must be brought to the academy immediately!"
Running back and forth across the governmental building, even using magic, left him breathless. With his last gasp and a face flushed red, the magic tutor exclaimed her brilliance.
"Teacher Hans."
Observing the magic tutor, who had forgotten his place and position in his excitement, Duchess Nashia calmly called out to him. Though she didn't know what excited him so much, hearing praise about her daughter was certainly welcome.
"First, calm down and have some tea."
"Oh, yes, yes."
After quickly downing the lukewarm tea, the tutor took a deep breath, set down his cup, and once again looked at Nashia with sparkling eyes.
"Lady Kalia needs to be taken to the academy! We must assign her the best professors and researchers to assist her!"
"It seems my daughter has made quite an impression on you."
Realizing his breach of decorum, the tutor hastily corrected himself. Fortunately, Duchess Nashia appeared unconcerned.
"As Your Grace is aware, Lady Kalia is brilliant, perceptive, and intelligent."
"That's true."
"However, the concept I just heard from her transcends mere brilliance. It's beyond human words to describe."
Nashia nodded, encouraging him to continue. The tutor opened a notebook in front of her, revealing notes he had taken from Kalia's ideas.
"If Court Scholar Apiman or Dean Surt of the Aether had proposed this, I wouldn't have been so astonished. But Lady Kalia is only ten years old. She is a treasure of the Duchy, the Empire, of humanity!"
"Hmm, I'm finding it quite challenging to understand what this all means. Could you explain it in detail?"
What Magic Tutor Hans had noted down was the method of deductive reasoning and statistical hypothesis testing. It was a rudimentary sketch, capturing only the core concepts, making it difficult for anyone but scholars to comprehend.
"This represents an expansion and enhancement of the inductive reasoning that has been the foundation of our scholarship for the past two centuries. In essence, Lady Kalia has proposed ideas that leap beyond two centuries of thought."
