Chereads / Destiny of the knight walker / Chapter 22 - Region of hope: (II)

Chapter 22 - Region of hope: (II)

The sound of footsteps echoed throughout the hallway, only moirai and the old servant were in the long hallway. what happened to this building no one knew, but moirai with his cold gaze, he continued to follow the old servant out of there through the empty rooms one after another. after a while of walking, moirai finally reached the front door, which was guarded by a cold guard.

With a frail hand he handed moirai a key. "sir knightwalker, my master entrusts this key to you," he said.

"This key will allow you to stay at an inn near the town square... there is an inn called erloy, where you can rest comfortably and safely."

"Thank you... this is very helpful..." moirai thanked him as he left the old servant.

The screeching of the door was heard, as a guard's hand opened the wooden door, for moirai. he with iced face moved his feet away from the place, towards the front gate.

The noise of the crowd began to be heard as moirai stepped into the park. moirai continued his steps out of the gate. Arriving at the front, Terresa was dripping with sweat, panting as she met Moirai.

Seeing Terresa in that condition, Moirai immediately approached her "Terresa...? thanks to you I-"

suddenly with her small hand, she hugged moirai soulfully, her grip felt soft and her embrace was so warm. wetness was felt on moira's chest, the atmosphere lasted for a while. the people who were busy with their world, were suddenly distracted by the behavior of the two of them.

"wh-what... what are you doing..." moirai whispered with a slightly flushed face.

"Shut up..." she said in a shaky tone.

Terresa suddenly rested her head on Moirai's chest "If you don't want to be thrown into the dungeon, you'd better obey, just go with the flow" Terresa whispered in a threatening tone.

"d-do you know how scared you are to leave me... hiks, I... I... I don't want to lose the one I care about, you promised me didn't you..."

"Terresa... I..."

"Shut up, shut up... Shut up... Shut up with your stupid word... You know how much this heart hurts... Do you know how much it hurts me when you leave... I don't want to... lose my loved one once again... You... Swear not to do that again... please... ," said Terresa with a glassy face.

"Terresa... I... swear... I will never leave you... I will never hurt you... I will always be with you until the writing of the goddess destiny begins to separate us..., so please don't cry...,"

As tears streamed down Terresa's face, like glittering jewels, she was speechless, her feelings so deeply mixed. "w-what..." said a confused Terresa

with a face reddened like a strawberry, with her small hand, Terresa grabbed moirai's hand and dragged it as hard as she could. the confused moirai could only stay silent and followed Terresa running towards a destination she didn't know. people also saw the two, confused, wondering, what happened, why, who are they, everyone thought.

Terresa continued to run without direction, trying to find a place to hide her embarrassed face. right and left she continued to look for a place where no one in the world could see her. after running for a long time Terresa stopped at a small city park.

With a flushed face and panting breath Terresa fell down and started lying on the grass, "you... don't look tired at all..." said her while taking a breath.

"No... not at all..., we'll hmmmm we talk about it or..."

",ehem" "To put it simply, I .... well made a bit of a fuss..., I said that we were lovers... and yes.... long story short Lord Hoffen came and eventually you were released that's all... nothing less and nothing more..."

"Are you sure... nothing happen at all?"

"Of course... oh yeah, moirai don't ever tell anyone about this okay, if anyone finds out then I'll turn you into dragon food.

"But everyone already knows, right?"

"Just... just do what I say...," grumbled Terresa while looking away.

Her breathing was back to normal, the air coming out of her mouth was steady, and her strawberry face was starting to return to its original colour. "Let's forget about that..." said Terresa.

"hey moirai did you get a place to stay..., lord hoffen should have given you one right?" asked terresa.

moirai reached into the pocket of his robe, and showed a silver coloured key, "yes... lord hoffen gave this to me... hmmmm terresa do you know where the guild is,?" moirai said while turning the key like a trick.

With a confused look on her face she squinted "guild?... not an inn?" she said.

"I need some money, I can't wander around without money right, lord hoffen said I can get a job that can earn some coins there,"

"hmmm, I see... money is necessary anyway...." with her small feet she stood up and pointed to a road, "you just follow this road... I just passed a guild-like building there..., maybe it's the guild you're looking for..."

moirai looked at the street, a noisy and lively street could be seen. various types of people could be seen there, but the most visible was a group of armed men who were joking around.

"guilds are usually filled with mercenaries... the missions given by guilds are mostly dangerous, and even if there are easy missions, they are already taken by others, well... good luck with that, your inn is called erloy right? the key you have is the same as mine and also I asked lord hoffen to give you the same place to stay,"

"Our inn should be a few tens of metres from the guild, close to the water fountain in the town square,"

"Thank you, things are easier now, by the way where do you want to go after this?" asked moirai.

Terresa turned her head and looked a little frozen, "Me?...hmmm...I don't know, maybe I want to buy some magic books at the shop, you know right? before I was in a hurry and just passed this place so iacn take a look in there...well see you at the inn,...I heard that the shop is only open at this hour bye bye..." Terresa also hit Moirai's chest slightly as a farewell.

moirai raised his hand and waved goodbye, seeing terresa who was walking away from moirai and that place. moirai walked towards the place that terresa pointed out, noise and laughter could be heard from various places. many stalls were opened along the way, the sound of merchants selling their goods mixed with the bustling atmosphere of the city.

"please buy, fresh fruit picked directly from the farm,"

"come on come on... get cheap, yet excellent quality potions,..."

"Buy this good luck charm... I guarantee good fortune will come to your entire family..."

Amongst the hustle and bustle of the crowd, moirai continued to look for the guild he was aiming for. he turned his head right and left looking for the guild that terresa had directed, it should be around here right, but where..., he thought.

After some time later, moirai found a building that looked so quiet from the outside. compared to other buildings, the place should be like sugar among ants, crowded, and dense, but that was not the case. without caring about that moirai immediately went inside to take the mission. it was true, the place looked deserted and only a few mercenaries were still left there.

moirai immediately walked towards the guild reception, while looking at the surrounding place. the atmosphere looks so warm, the chairs are neatly arranged and various corners of the room feel alive with the existing furniture.

From the reception desk a person with a dark aura was seen, with a tired face and dark eyes he greeted moirai "hello sir... how can I help you," he said.

"oh hello... I want to take a mission, do you know where I can get it?" moirai asked.

"Mission huh," said the receptionist with a slightly surprised tone, "you can pick it up on the notice board, there are already provisions and some requirements there, after you take the mission you can immediately leave... that's it," explained the man while checking the document in front of him.

"I see...," moirai immediately walked towards a large board that contained a lot of papers stuck there. the paper was a request from various people in the city, "hmmm... there are too many missions here...." as his eyes scrolled through the search, he found a mission on behalf of Hoffen Nava.

he immediately took the paper and read the contents of the mission "Extermination and purification of undead, it is suspected that the undead wave came from soldiers who died in the battlefield, and gathered at the western edge of the city, a priest is needed to purify the area, a quarter of the commission will be given after the mission reporting is completed, and the rest will be given after confirmation from the patrol team, reward 10 gold coins,"

After reading every ink on the paper, Moirai immediately asked the receptionist, "Can I take this mission?"

"Do what you want, but remember if you die I'm the one who will be bothered, you know what... only yourself, who knows your abilities," said the receptionist while wiping his glasses.

"thank you... i'll be right back...,;", after saying that, he moved his feet out of the guild. the atmosphere immediately changed from quiet to a noisy and lively crowd.

moirai continued his journey towards the gate he entered when he first entered the city. step by step he passed, people were seen passing by and bustling, step by step as he moved away from the city centre, the previous crowd seemed to fade and was replaced by the sound of the marching soldiers of Lord Hoffem's subordinates. moirai returned to the city gate, which seemed to still have refugees who wanted to enter to find a glimmer of hope in the midst of war.

The guard on duty at the gate saw Moirai and started greeting him, "oyyy.... knightwalker.... do you want to come out?" the guard shouted, "what business do you have to come out today," the guard asked.

"I have a mission that I took from the guild, about purifying undead and such, can I go," moirai said as he handed a paper request that he took from the guild.

"ahhh... this request... I didn't know you were a priest, knightwalker, well... I can't be surprised anymore, before leaving you should first report to the person in front there, you will be given a disposable card to get in and out of this city, good luck out there," explained the guard.

"thanks... I owe you one," moiai said as he walked towards the man.

a guard was seen organising the files in front of him. the papers were piled up like a tower that was about to collapse. moirai walked up to the busy guard.

with a cold stare he looked at moirai with a sour face, "who are you..., state your name and reason," said the guard.

"My name is moirai a knightwalker... I'm here to carry out the guild's request," moirai said as he handed over his paper.

The guard took the paper and examined it carefully. "Purification of undead, when the sun is shining brightly like this? .... Are you sure?" the guard said with astonishment.

"Don't worry... I have a way...." moirai said.

"Well... let's see how you do knightwalker.... I'm really looking forward to it," said the guard sarcastically as he handed over a card with the name moirai and a guild delegate right below his name.

The guard raised his hand signalling to leave "You can leave now..., don't die and turn into an undead, you understand,"

After taking the card, he swayed his steps towards a dense forest. step by step, the sound of birds chirping was still heard from the distance, although he had not entered the deep forest, the atmosphere of the forest still felt alive, there were several deer running around and birds dancing in the sky.

in the middle of his journey, he raised his hand gently while moving his fingers, a flower of fire appeared from a nothingness, the flower spouted flames that turned into several butterflies that flew in the sky.

"Can you help me little friend, that would be very helpful...," he said softly.

some of the butterflies immediately took to the high sky and flew away, but there was one that kept flying low around moirai. the butterfly then flew through the dense bushes, into the deeper forest. moirai followed the butterfly's trail, not long after he found the butterfly perched on a rotting female corpse. all that was left of her was a silver pendant stained with blood.

moirai's face froze wordlessly, holding back all expressions. he cautiously stepped gently as he sat facing the woman. his hand carefully tried to pick up the pendant. moirai wiped the pendant with his hand, gently, cleaning the blood stains. an ornament was engraved on the pendant. an ornament that had unique and beautiful characteristics as if it was only owned by a handful of people only.

moirai put the pendant away and raised his hand and began to pray, he closed his eyes, quietly and silently he prayed, "All hail Acashic..." moirai gently raised his hand and touched the corpse's head. the butterfly that had been sitting there immediately lit up brightly and released sparks that devoured the corpse.

"thank you for carrying out your destiny faithfully," moirai said while petting the corpse's burnt head. the fire had no destructive nature, the weeds around did not burn when touched by the fire. even the woman's face looked back to normal, the fire healed her body. while her body returned to normal, it slowly turned into ashes.

moirai stood up and bowed to pay his last respects. "what a cruel fate," the ashes of the corpse flew with the wind, moirai's body seemed to freeze, thinking about something.

"oh my goddess... I hope the destiny you wrote, is a gift to this world...," moirai moved his steps once again along the thread of light that the butterflies left along the forest. his steps deepened into the dense forest, the sound of birds chirping and life seemed to disappear, in addition to the trees that were previously green and beautiful now decaying and even starting to die. the thread of light led moirai to a pile of corpses lying on the side of the path. the butterflies that had previously been seen perched on the corpses, waiting for moirai to come.

The moirai began to walk gently towards some of the corpses, she knelt down, took off the halberd on his back, put his hands together and began to pray quietly and solemnly. the butterflies began to turn into sparks, which devoured the corpses she landed on with warm flames, the faces that had been decaying looked back to normal. Men, women, children, a mother, a knight, a warrior, a demon, all faces became clear and visible. the flames also seemed to fertilize the surrounding environment, the dead grass returned to green, the withered flowers returned to bloom, the trees looked green again.

moirai took a deep breath, his body trembled, and his face felt cold, "i pray for all of you, towards the promised destiny, All hail Acashic," the flames turned the corpses into ashes one by one, making the place brighter than ever. moirai stood up he sat down to pay his last respects, and then moved his steps towards the remaining threads of light. the forest had become quiet once again.

The longer he walked, the fainter the sun became, replaced by the stars. the trees and paths now began to disappear from view, only the thread of light was the only guide. just a little more..., just a little more..., he thought.

In the distance the butterfly that had previously flown back, in the direction of the moirai, the butterfly gave off a dazzling light before finally extinguishing and disappearing. "im so sorry you all... I'm late," him said

moirai picked up his halberd and got into a fighting stance. the moonlight now illuminated the place, the sound of footsteps began to be heard, the sound of moaning and groaning was getting closer and closer. slowly but surely, the undead were coming.

from the side the undead lunged at moirai, instantly the swing of the halberd killed the undead quickly. the other undead lunged at moirai continuously. with his strength, moirai snapped his fingers and instantly the halberd lit up brightly with burning fire.

"Grant the prayers of the goddess acashic, for their good, the people who wander in this world," moirai immediately swung his halberd horizontally, cutting down the undead cleanly and neatly. not stopping there, moirai immediately lunged and swung her halberd continuously.

Countless undead continued to come. as the undead approached moirai swung his halberd continuously. he quickly smashed his halberd to the ground. the fire in the halberd immediately flowed and devoured the undead in front of him.

a group of undead in heavy armour appeared from the side. this time, unlike before, he stabbed his halberd precisely into the gap of the armour to defeat the undead. the fire immediately devoured the undead even though it was only slightly stabbed. stab after stab, the undead began to fall.

the undead tried to get closer, but moirai did not let that happen. because of the halberd's long range, the undead could not get any closer. but even so, the undead did not stop, dozens to hundreds continued to appear from various directions.

The darkness that enveloped the forest, slowly disappeared. the fire that came from the pile of undead corpses burned brightly. the trees and grass felt so alive, but on the other hand, the undead were burned to ashes because of the heat.

swing after swing, stab after stab continued to occur, the sound of sereaming continuously echoed in the forest. no matter how many undead were defeated, the number of undead had no sign of decreasing. in the midst of the battle. sparks began to appear among the undead corpses. the sparks began to turn into dozens of flamming birds, which flew in the night sky.

"flammiel?... thank you for the help," moirai said while looking at the flamming birds from below. the flamming birds began to dart towards and attack the undead. although only small scratches were visible, but small sparks emerged from the wounds which then burned the undead. in an instant dozen of undead were immediately defeated.

Taking advantage of the opportunity provided by the flamming bird, moirai then began to kneel and began to pray. "oh my goddess..., I beg of you, guide this wandering soul to the destiny you promised, for good... for glory... for the promised destiny..."

flames began to appear in the palm of moirai's hand, moirai was frozen for a moment seeing such a beautiful light emerge from the palm of his hand. "sister hanna... I will continue your duties... as a faithful servant of the goddess...,"

moirai immediately touched her hand on the ground. slowly but surely sparks began to appear in various places. waves of fire began to appear and began to cover all the land in the forest. the undead were immediately devoured by the flames, and became ashes.

moirai stood looking at the stars in the night sky, moirai put his halberd back on his back,. a thread of light was seen in the distance, showing the position of the other butterflies.
