Chapter 18 - Chapter 17: The Reason was Ryzel

"Lieutenant General Mervin, the order was just given," Lewis said, staring straight at Mervin.

"Yes, General Lewis, I will follow your orders." Mervin saluted and went out.

Hearing Lewis mention his whole title in the army and not just as his adjutant, he knew that he could no longer question Lewis and just follow his order.

He knew that Lewis probably wanted to rush back to the Capital Star to meet Ryzel.

He and Lewis had been friends since they were kids, so he knew that Lewis only acted extremely occasionally.

One of the times he acted extremely was when his grandfather died.

Lewis went to the front lines and killed a lot of Zergs as a way to vent his anger.

He led the frontlines with a lot of victories, which led him to be promoted time and time again for his achievements.

Two years ago, Lewis suddenly disappeared with his mech.

Mervin spent a lot of effort tracking down Lewis. After ten (10) days, he finally found Lewis in one of the fringe stars.

His mech was worn out with a lot of Zerg corpses in the surroundings; he was alone, sitting with his mech on top of Zerg corpses.

After helping him clean up the rest of the Zergs left on the planet, he asked Lewis why he was acting out.

He asked Lewis what he was venting about. But Lewis only answered,

"It's nothing; I just lost someone that should be mine."

After saying that, Lewis went back and never mentioned anything about it, as if the ten (10) days he vented out to kill the Zergs without even doing any of his work didn't happen.

Mervin was very puzzled by Lewis's answer that day, Zergs, but because he acted normally as if nothing happened, Mervin didn't try to investigate the cause of it.

Since childhood, he hasn't seen Lewis interested in anyone.

A lot of guides showed interest in him, but Lewis just ignored all of them.

His parents even tried to match him with other guides, but Lewis didn't respond to any of them.

That's why his parents even secretly matched him with others using his monthly mental reading check by the army, but the results were not ideal.

All the guides they tried to match with him didn't even reach a fifteen percent (15%) matching rate.

Even though Lewis knew what his parents had been doing, he didn't even bother to stop them just to comfort them.

Two months following his outburst, he behaved perfectly normally. However, he grew enraged and erased all of his health data and reports that his parents were utilizing after witnessing them read a report on his matching with other guides. He even warned them not to repeat the action.

Lewis was very tolerant of his family and friends. That's why, when he suddenly became angry with them, his mother even cried, but he didn't even console her and just let her be.

Hearing what happened from his aunt, Mervin was very sure that Lewis did have a problem.

He started investigating what happened on the day Lewis disappeared.

He investigated where and who Lewis met that day. He also learned about what their conversation was about.

It was a little troublesome to investigate it, but with the strong memory of sentinels, he finally made a detailed summary of what happened to Lewis that day.

Looking at the details, everything is ordinary. But what caught his eye was the conversation of two (2) sentinels Lewis heard before he suddenly disappeared.

The conversation is about Dwight, who just got a positive answer to his courting from a guide he was pursuing.

After some investigation, he knew that the guide was Ryzel. A guide they have seen once before because of Luke's brother.

When Luke's brother visited the army, he was with an extremely beautiful guide. Even for Mervin, who has seen a lot of guides, the beauty of the guide was indeed incomparable to others.

Mervin remembered praising the guide's beauty, and Lewis agreed. It was the only time Lewis agreed when he was praising someone for their beauty, so he still remembers it.

His intuition told him that the guide named Ryzel was the reason for Lewis' odd behavior.

He tried testing it out by mentioning Ryzel's name as being together with one of their soldiers, but what he received was a punch from Lewis.

He could still remember their conversation back then.

"So it's really Ryzel that caused you to act out. but I don't remember you ever talking to him."

"Yes, it is him, but don't mention him again because he already has a partner."

"Not all those who enter a relationship will be married to each other. Not to mention, they're not even married yet. With your value, you have a higher chance as long as you appear in front of him."

"No need; it was my fault for not putting him by my side earlier; now that he has someone, I won't intrude on his life."

"Are you sure? Then what if he breaks up with his current boyfriend? What will you do? "

"Then I will do everything to put him by my side," Lewis said with conviction.

"Really? But what if they never break up? "

"Then I'll just let him continue having his life without a connection to me.

Don't even try to interfere with his life. Don't even say a word about him to my parents," Lewis said, warning him.

Until now, he was still puzzled about when Lewis even fell in love with Ryzel. Is it really love at first sight?

But he at least knew that, from the actions of Lewis now, it seems that he was determined to have Ryzel. Even forcing a ten-day voyage down to five days.

Should he be pleased that Lewis is finally seeking a partner?

Or should he be concerned about their compatibility first?

Both of them broke the records of guides and sentinels who couldn't find a matching rate higher than 30% despite several matching tests.
