"Who do you think is behind this attack on a simple young man?" Maggie looked at Wayne, who was gazing at the school Dash attended, and sighed.
Wayne remained silent for a few minutes as he contemplated why Dash would be attacked and said, "We ruled out any kind of kidnapping because those weren't the intentions of those gang members. If we rule that out, it leaves revenge out of hatred or an attack for some specific reason that we don't know."
"I think the same. Something much more foolish than it seems should be involved, and the person who connected Dash Hale with those gang members must be the same one who stole the girl's cellphone." Maggie said, understanding that if they found the person who stole the cellphone, they would get the answers they were looking for.
When they reached this conclusion, both got out of the car and headed to the school, where a security guard was waiting, and the school principal, who had hurried to be aware of what the detectives would do,.
"How is the student doing?"
Maggie looked at the woman asking this question and said, "Despite having some injuries on his body, it's nothing serious. Do you know if anyone from the school wanted to harm Dash?"
"He's a good kid; he's in the debate club, so there are no people who exactly want to harm him. Everyone knows he comes from a wealthy family, so very few dare to bother him."
What she meant was that in all these years, no one had problems with Dash where someone would want to seek revenge, so this further narrowed down the list of people looking to harm him.
When they reached the control office, they accessed the recordings of the last twenty-four hours and soon found the fragments from the gym.
"Just when the kids enter, I want to know if Devon has her cellphone and who steals it from her." Maggie said, approaching the screen to also serve as a pair of additional eyes, observing what was happening.
As the minutes passed, the first thing they discovered was that Devon did have her cellphone, but they still needed to find out when and who stole it.
"Speed it up more..." Wayne couldn't understand the calmness, so he asked the person handling the playback of the recordings to speed it up.
Maggie, who was watching the screen, looked at a specific boy approaching the benches where Devon had sat before, leaving her cellphone behind. "Right at this point, stop."
"We got you..." At that moment, Wayne quickly took a picture of the student who had taken Devon's cellphone and said, "Madam Principal, it would save us a lot of time if you provided information about this student."
"I'll check in the database." The principal was silent and nodded.
Maggie, who was focused on the screen, quickly said, "Do you have recordings from before but from the angle of the door?"
"We have them, but it will take a little more time."
"Do whatever it takes," Wayne said as he walked away with Maggie to discuss the course of action they would take.
Maggie, who was thinking, murmured, "Do you think that kid knows who is involved?"
"He should... A few hours after stealing that cellphone, Dash Hale received an anonymous message with an address where he was attacked, but he also received a call, so he probably knows."
"I found him!"
By the time they heard that, Wayne had ordered the arrest of the student who had stolen the cellphone because they needed to know if that kid knew who he had given the phone to.

San Francisco Hospital
Private room.
"Have they figured it out?" Frederick asked coldly as he stayed with his son after his wife needed rest.
"We've found out who is behind all this. Shall we leave this job to the detectives?"
"What will they do with the gang members?"
"They will be deported to a foreign prison."
"As for the culprit, he is now on the run."
Frederick looked at his son and, after thinking for a while, whispered, "Let's see how the detectives act. Send Mr. Anderson to put pressure on the police."
"That's what we'll do, sir."
Frederick, who looked at his son, smiled slightly at seeing Devon sleeping beside him. They were definitely made for each other, so he got up after knowing his son was not in danger.
