Chapter 183 - Dash's Plan

As Dash walked through the school hallways, he ran into Demetri, who was putting away some things in his locker. "I haven't seen you around the dojo lately. Where are you training now?"

"I've been considering it a lot, but among all the good things your dojo offered, the most painful part was the high tuition fees. That's why I decided to go with Mr. LaRusso, even though I don't like the way he teaches." Demetri complained a bit about his recent classes with Mr. LaRusso.

At this point, Dash raised an eyebrow and asked, "Can I ask you a question?"

"One question won't hurt; go ahead and ask me anything, but I hope it's not something that will waste my time," Demetri sarcastically replied, as if he had something better to do.

Dash smiled slightly and whispered, "I have something big in the works. Do you want to be a part of it? Imagine being able to skip classes on Friday and go to a new school where you might even find a girlfriend."

While Demetri closed his locker, Dash smiled mysteriously as he laid out his plan. Obviously, he didn't care about the rivalries between Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do, but it was getting annoying, and if he didn't want the name of a sport he had been trained in for years to be tarnished by students, he had to intervene, and his plans were just beginning.

"Are you serious?" Demetri asked.

Dash nodded before saying, "I'll get permission from the school if you sign up as a support team member for the debate we'll have at another school. Devon and I are selected, so we can bring whoever is closest to us."

As they walked towards the cafeteria, Dash let out a sigh of fatigue. It was torture to be involved in these silly fights between friends, but someone had to step in.

"The debate team? Oh, right, you're in that boring club that even someone like me agrees is torture." Demetri agreed and signed a sheet with his name.

With this paper in hand, Dash nodded as if he were a businessman who had just closed a good deal and said, "I'm sure you'll like that school; they say they have a good cheerleading team."

"That sounds tempting..." Demetri accepted, if only to avoid seeing his friend with his stupid behavior act foolishly with everyone.

Maybe it would do him good to be out for a day and have the whole weekend to clear his mind; only then could he muster the strength to endure and think of a solution for the coming week.

As Dash descended the stairs, he checked some messages sent by club members when suddenly he bumped into someone.

"Oh, you can go ahead..." Dash didn't even bother to look up, but suddenly a familiar scent reached him.

Devon, who was in front of him, looked at the paper in Dash's hands and didn't say a word upon seeing the signed name. Sophia, his friend, was the one who said, "You've invited the dynamic duo; I'm sure they'll cause a lot of trouble."

"Come on, there's nothing to worry about; I can handle those two." Dash smiled nonchalantly when mentioning Eli and Demetri, who wouldn't give him any trouble.

Devon sighed and said, "You know you can't control them. Bringing Cobra Kai guys to another school is like carrying dynamite that can explode at any moment."

Dash's gaze remained on Devon, and he joked, "I don't think they're as explosive as you in debates; you're the most intense when we argue."

Sophia laughed at these words and said, "Haha, last time you broke a guy's book while debating about the death penalty."

Devon furrowed her brows at being exposed this way and said, "Well, um... never mind, it'll be their problem if they do something stupid."

Seeing that Devon's response seemed forced, Dash dropped the subject and said, "Do you know what debate topic we'll be working on?"

"The general theme will be the evolution of technology; we have to be in favor of this topic, and we believe it will be very challenging to work on due to many moral factors working against us." Devon also put aside other topics as they headed back.

Sophia nodded at these words, knowing what they would have to work on with the debate club from now on. As selected members, only three would debate, while a team of five would provide support in case of an emergency.

"I still think it's not that worrying; we could have the upper hand if we focused on what's most beneficial for humanity. In the end, it's all for us, and comfort is what everyone seeks." Dash didn't lift his gaze from his cell phone while discussing the debate with Devon.

Devon was surprised to hear Dash's optimism and asked, "Are you really interested?"

Dash suddenly stopped, raised his head, and looked at Devon. "We both know we don't like to lose; I think no one would like to lose at another school when you represent the place where you study, so there's a need to focus."

With that response, Devon knew she had nothing to worry about. When Dash mentioned that he didn't want to lose, it meant that both of them trained very hard to be as well-prepared as possible.

"Are you going to the dojo today?" Sophia asked, diverting from the debate discussion.

Devon nodded with a long sigh. "Today, we'll have the snakes at home; we must obviously be there."

"That's true; now with Sensei Lawrence out, the old military-looking guy will be in charge of Cobra Kai, so we'll have certain complications when communicating." Dash remembered the behavior of that man.

As far as he knew, Kreese was a cruel, ruthless, and unhinged Vietnam War veteran and sensei of the Cobra Kai karate dojo during the 1980s. He instilled a dangerous "no mercy" philosophy in his students and encouraged the actions of generations of bullies.

Now that philosophy has been passed on to the current generation, things started getting out of control when bullied kids learned how to defend themselves and stop being intimidated.

That's what happens when you give power to people who have always been puppets of those who once had the power to control them. Now that few can stop them, they won't stop until all the pent-up anger is released from within.

Eli, or as everyone calls him, Hawk, that guy used to receive a lot of harassment, but now that he knows how to defend himself, those who used to harass him don't even dare to look him in the eye anymore.

Unfortunately, that behavior was being taken to the extreme, to the point where they are becoming the same kind of people who were once bullying them.

"Shall we go home in the meantime? My mom wants to see you." Devon looked at the thoughtful Dash and asked.

Dash nodded and said, "Of course, it would be better than spending time alone at home."
