Chapter 122 - Changes in the Tournament

A week after the last confrontation, things took a turn for the better. For everyone, concluding the tournament in a single night was eagerly anticipated after enjoying other aspects of this place. Many couldn't wait, but they had to postpone the tournament for a week because many fighters needed time to recover from their injuries and be in better condition for the fights.

"Is the final going to be today?" Devon on the other side of the screen looked at Dash, who was eating, and asked in a serious tone.

Dash, after finishing his meal, said, "In theory, the final is today, although after that, I'll spend a few days in review in case any injuries we aren't aware of are present in my condition."

"A few days before the All Valley tournament, will you be able to make it to the competition?" Devon just wanted Dash to come back and not be alone in a country where they didn't speak the language, so knowing he was close to the final made her happy.

"I don't think I can make it in time, but I'll do my best..." Dash smiled slightly, concealing from Devon the fact that he might end up very injured.

"Too bad. At least we'll record how we break the faces of the Cobra Kai guys who have been acting crazy lately..." Devon smiled, thinking about all the crazy things that had happened recently.

Dash, who had heard about everything that had happened with Cobra Kai, smiled slightly. From what he had heard, the relationship with Daniel LaRusso had worsened, and now they were in some kind of war.

"But we have more students, right?" Dash raised his eyebrows, thinking he would be much more at ease watching all that drama from the sidelines.

Devon smiled and said, "The way they teach their students in Cobra Kai would be good if applied only in tournaments, but it seems they've taken it as a lifestyle."

It was well known that Cobra Kai students showed no mercy, but that ideology is very risky to implement nowadays since many were not up for senseless fights. Dash was unaware of the rivalry Johnny was having with Daniel, but if things escalated, history would repeat itself as in the past. But at this moment, these were not Dash's concerns, so he said, "Before hanging up, is there anything you wanted to tell your boyfriend before the final fights?"

"Don't have mercy on your opponents; they're still older than you, so it's not the time to be considerate with others." Devon looked at Dash and nodded, knowing he was okay. After the call time was up, they bid each other farewell.

After the call ended, Dash remained silent. At least this was about to end, and the winner would be decided based on that. All the fighters who had advanced to the quarterfinals had been gathering in the outdoor area where the combat would take place.

The VIP members, as expected, had started their big bets, something Dash was completely oblivious to.

"Hey Jack, want to make a bet on the performance of our two fighters? The age difference isn't much, and it seems like your guy has a good chance of reaching the semifinal." Carpio approached Jack, who was talking with some colleagues, and proposed a bet.

Jack, who expected this, asked, "What do you want to bet?"

"Your complete collection of private paintings. It would be an honor to have them in my living room after tonight." Carpio smiled sarcastically and said, "Sure, I'd give you anything I could in exchange for that."

Jack furrowed his brows, and after hesitating for a moment, he nodded. "Then I want your complete collection of antique cars; lately, I've been getting interested in engines."

Carpio, who was smiling, fell completely silent after hearing what Jack wanted in exchange for his victory in this bet. In that sense, the offer might surpass billions of dollars, although the cars are not worth much more than the paintings; the collection was quite extensive.

"But you know that art is no less than your cars, so I also want your yachts and islands in the Black Sea." Jack added while looking seriously at Carpio. Both knew that their fighters could lose before the final, so this type of bet was extremely dangerous.

Carpio had done this thinking that Jack would refuse; there was no way he would say yes in his eyes. But he was surprised that this was not the case, so he said, "You're asking for too much..."

"Your fighter is almost at the age limit for this tournament. Wouldn't you have the advantage with a fifteen-year-old kid?" Jack acted surprised at Carpio's cowardice.

"Then let's do it. If your fighter gets further than mine in the competition, what you've asked for will be yours." Carpio shook hands, and this bet was immediately registered to avoid any problems.

By the time Carpio left, Jack's assistant asked, "Do you want us to inform your fighter about this?"

"Just tell him that if he wins, he'll have enough money to live for the rest of his life without doing anything, fight well, and prepare properly because tonight is going to be very long." Jack didn't want to think about Dash's possibilities; all he wanted was for him to be aware that his victory was at stake, and he should only know that.

"Whether it's a defeat or victory, I hope Dash has the balls to go all the way to the end..."
