James left the room with a determined look on his face. The hallway is empty; the man who guided him here seemed to be long gone. James still felt lost for words, all this was just too much. His steps grew heavy as he let himself fall into thought.
Demon worshipers, as far as James knew demons were cruel and malicious beasts, no sane man would ever willingly follow such a force. Thinking this he was reminded of his group's saying. From hell I arrive and to heavens I retrieve the knowledge I desire. It was true as it was, they went through so much together, even leading to their separation. It didn't sadden him that their accomplishments were forgotten, it's just natural. Most don't even know of the angel incident forty years ago.
James stopped before the door leading to the outside.
"Wouldn't you like to say something?" James said to the air.
"Cant I leave the past in the past." A woman's voice came from nowhere.
"I know you still love him."
"He has long since shown his true feelings. Plus he doesn't need me anymore."
"You say that but I know you want to stay behind."
"I'm tired okay, some part of me still wishes to dream." She sounded remorseful.
There was a pause where both refused to speak.
"I bet you never expected you would turn out to be the stronger one?"
"Please, he held himself back. I didn't have such pleasantries."
"Trust me. I'll be fine, no one can beat me in a head to head fight, so why not stay here for a little bit to catch up."
"I don't know." She said wearily.
"That wasn't a question, it was an order. I'm sure you can even surprise Jorge well your at it. Show him why you shouldn't hold stuff away from your boss."
No voice returned his response, but he could sense she left. Now James was truly alone. She was with him for so long it almost felt weird, like taking off a pair of glasses you had on for years. In a way it was comforting, you can only go so long with an assassin on your back before you get nervous. James let out a long sigh before leaving the building and being met with a man wearing antique sunglasses.
"How was the meeting?" He asked.
"Why would you care?"
James pushed him away and marched off the school property.
