Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Nadia's POV

"Are you mad?!" It's the first time I question Landon's sanity. "What an absurd idea! The fuck is wrong with you?" I can't freaking wrap my head around it.

"Don't you want something better than this? Something than being fated to a second in command? To a Beta?" He is looking dead in my eyes. I somehow want confirmation that this is just an expensive joke, a prank, just something not reality.

"Are you serious?" I asked him again. "Wasn't your sister just crowned Luna?" It's shocking Landon has such an idea on the night of Talia's wedding. Talia is probably getting her brains fucked out right now, while her brother is scheming such hideous plan.

"It's not Talia's children who will always be second. It's not Talia who will always have to answer to someone she is way more qualified than. Vance's throne is mine, and I want it."

"Why are you telling me this?" I ask. I have seen multiple horror movies, the lesson is always 'the lesser you know, the safer you are'.

"Because you are going to help me." Landon is squeezing my hands tightly. This is something, it definitely is.

"What if I don't want to?" I really don't know what I'm going for, but I want to be sure he is serious.

"Have you thought about it?" He looks at me like I'm the mad one, his hazel eyes piercing through my thoughts.

"What is in it for me?" I say, finally. Landon heaves a sigh, one of relief.

"Are you seriously asking that?" I'm choking on a laughter. Landons face looks comic even though he's grave serious. I am already bought, but a little tete-a-tete wouldn't hurt.

"How is it gonna be?" Landons plan better be feasible enough. I knew I had always been a better option than Talia, it's an opportunity to take what's mine, no way in hell, human or wolf am I passing it up.

"That will be all for now. Let's have fun and be merry." Landon says, glancing around with a plastic smile on his face in an attempt to deceive the prying eyes who has fixed their gaze on us when my scream almost made us a spectacle.

Landon holds my hand and spins me around, dancing like the gentleman he is thought to be.

The party continues till late, however, Landon whisks me away to congratulate the Alpha and his new beta, after which we head to his place.

"That was revolting." He mutters understand his breath while bring the car to life.

"What?" I ask, smiling, like one oblivious. "What was revolting?" I did a poor job in concealing the humor in my voice.

"Don't act funny with me, Nadia. I am not in the mood." He says sternly like one would say to a crying child.

"Ooh. Look who's got an attitude." It's the last I plan on saying about the subject. Landon could get very fierce and mean.

We arrived at his house soon enough. He puts on slow music to set the mood, and maybe provide some noise against walls with ears.

"I have everything worked out already." Landon is straight to business. "It's a two man job, so I could go over the plan as many times as possible." He looks at me, making sure what he said sinked in.

"When do you have in mind?" I ask Landon. He looks too eager to end his sister's marital bliss, which is quite strange to me, but I don't care.

"We strike tonight." He says, after deliberating for a while.

"Why so soon?" I draw back in my chair, bracing myself for whatever Landon might be thinking up.

His face creases like one deliberating answering the question or not. "I've waited too long", he says, after an impatient pause.

"Alright. Get into it." I replied, half-hearted. For now, whatever it is, is an idea and a very long shot.

"You will go in, 'to see the Luna' will be your excuse, they will all be happy and merry and won't suspect anything," He starts, squinting in concentration. "You start small talk with Talia and request to use the bathroom," he continues, "but you don't go into the bathroom, you miss your way to their bedroom…"

"And you say you thought this through?" I cut in, shocked at the absurdity of this plan. "Are you sure it's not something you saw in the movies?" I'm searching Landon's face for humor, something to tell me he was joking.

"No, listen. I've known Vance since forever. Just pay attention." He stamps his already unsteady right foot on the floor, "When you get in, you open the window overlooking the car park, it has less cameras and doesn't have a door leading there from the house. I should be able to escape without getting caught."

"How do you plan to break in?" Landon's plan looks like it needs a little common sense.

"I'm not breaking in, I'm entering." He stares at me like I said something stupid. "The question is how am I breaking out."

"Alright. How are you breaking out?" It's hard not to roll my eyes.

Landon pulls out two matching sweatshirts. He turns them both inside out to reveal the other faces. "They are double faced. You will wear one, and I'd wear the reverse."

"Back to the plan," he says after flinging one at me, "Vance should see you entering their bedroom, he would come after you, giving you less than two seconds to unlock the window. "

"What if I don't unlock it before he enters?"

"Then you do it while he's in. Start a conversation, talk about how pretty the room is or whatever the fuck it is that would lead to you looking out the window and unlocking it while he's distract. Don't resort to seduction, Nadia. He might be provoked and cause a scene."

"Okay." I say, even though I know Landon too much to believe his reason for not wanting me to seduce Vance. It would have been fun, no doubt, but I wouldn't want to mess the plan up. Also, if Landons plan fails, I'd be stuck trying to unseduce him.

"When you are done, you leave the room, asking him for directions to the guest toilet." Land continues, his stare has fallen from my face and I can see him visualizing his grand scheme.

"How do I tell you when I'm done?" I ask Landon.

"I'll be in the palour, in clear view. You'll signal 'yay' to me on your way to the bathroom." He makes the 'yay' signal to show me what he is expecting. "Then you keep on being you with Talia. Also, make sure she doesn't go into the room. If you can't stop her, and she does, text me."

"Landon?" His face creases at the mention of his name, I keep staring at him still, till he brings his gaze to mine. " Are you sure you want to do this?" I ask, just one time for the one time.

"Are you questioning me?" His face gradually grows red. His eyes change color and his breath quickens. "Ask that one more time." It conveys all the threats I need to keep my mouth shut, so I do.

Landons wolf disappears, and he becomes the angry human he's always

been.

"We leave in an hour." He says finally, before getting up off his chair.
