Chapter 7 - Feral

At this moment, behind the school building, there are two groups of people facing each other.

One group is led by several girls. Although they are also dressed in school uniforms, it is obvious from their accessories and demeanor that they come from well-off families, especially the leader of the group who is adorned with luxury items, indicating substantial wealth. However, their behavior is somewhat peculiar.

On the other side, there appears to be a disadvantage, with only Alden leading along with two other girls. One of them is Flora, who previously went to find Alden, and the other is Alia.

"Brother? Why are you here?" Alia asked in surprise.

Then she immediately said angrily to Flora, "Flora! Who allowed you to bring my brother here? This is my business..."

"Why are you angry?" Alden, rarely seen getting angry, said with a grim expression. "If I didn't come, what if you got hurt or disabled?"

Alia was also surprised; her brother had never gotten angry at her before. Then she felt a bit aggrieved and defiant as she said, "I wasn't the one getting beaten up, I was the one who beat them up!"

"You're still talking back..." Alden wanted to scold her.

Then he noticed that even though the other side had more people, each of them had bruises and swollen faces, obviously having suffered a great deal.

"Really, I forgot..." Alden thought to himself.

His sister wasn't just an ordinary delicate girl; she was a genius with an awakening value as high as 57! This kind of strength completely dominated at the junior high level. Even when facing multiple opponents, she might not necessarily suffer. But he didn't expect his sister to be this strong, beating up this group of people so badly! Obviously, not only does she have a high awakening value, but she also possesses exceptional self-defense skills!

"Are you the useless brother of this wild seed? What do you say about this?" the leading girl asked anxiously, her voice even carrying a hint of crying.

How could this be happening! Just now, these girls were beaten up by this girl, and now this infamous useless brother comes and asks who dared to hit his sister? How dare he bully others like this?

"Do you still dare to say..." Alia's anger was reignited. These girls always envied her beauty and talent, often making insinuations and causing trouble. She has always been mindful of her family's situation, choosing to endure or ignore.

However, these despicable people, in front of her, insulted her brother without any restraint, using extremely malicious words, calling him a laughingstock and useless, completely crossing her bottom line. This made her unable to bear it. Yet, before she could take action, Alden had already acted first.

As Alden took a step, the leading girl hadn't reacted yet, when suddenly a phantom appeared before her eyes, followed by intense pain spreading across her face, and she unconsciously fell to the ground.

"Girls should understand the importance of accumulating virtue with their words. If you dare to be disrespectful again, it won't end so simply next time." Alden is not a gentleman; he doesn't have any tolerance. As a lesson for the rude behavior of this girl, he used just a slap in the face.

Alden and Alia do indeed share quite similar personalities.

At this moment, another thunderous roar erupted. Alden turned to see several male students wearing A City First High School uniforms striding towards them.

The leader of the boys saw Alden's face and immediately said angrily, "Alden? You useless person, how dare you touch my sister?"

Surprisingly, the newcomer was Alden's classmate, Jack. He was one of the top students at A City First High School, with an awakening value as high as 90. The two students by his side also had awakening values in the 80s.

As soon as Jack spoke, the reason for the incident became clear. It turned out that Flora hadn't brought reinforcements, but the other side had called in three top students from A City First High School!

Alia's face instantly turned pale, and she anxiously said to Alden, "Brother, you need to leave quickly! They wouldn't dare do anything to you..."

Alia knew very well that compared to the boys in front of her, her brother's strength was far from enough. Moreover, she was currently the focus of the school's attention, and the other side would unlikely treat her excessively. She understood her brother's difficult situation, so she hoped he would leave as soon as possible.

However, to her surprise, Alden did not choose to run away!

Another boy upon seeing the situation immediately sneered, "Oh, Alden, now not only are you reduced to bullying junior high school girls, but you're also abandoning your own sister to escape alone? Are you even a man anymore?"

They also understood that if Alden really ran away, things would become complicated. So, they decided to provoke Alden to stay with their words. What they didn't expect was that Alden had no intention of running away at all!

Jack coldly stated, "Alden, you must give us an explanation!"

"What kind of explanation do you want from me?" Alden asked straightforwardly.

"My sister is like a treasure at home, and my parents have never said a harsh word to her. Now she has suffered such grievance. Therefore, you must make your sister apologize to my sister, and you must slap yourself a hundred times, then kowtow to each of us ten times. Only then will this matter be considered settled..." A cruel smile appeared on Jack's face. In his view, this kind of resolution was already quite lenient.

He firmly believed that Alden would not be able to surpass his awakening value, and given his poor family background, he thought Alden would choose to resolve the matter privately, hence proposing these conditions.

However, Alden coldly said, "Your sister lacks manners, and it seems there's a reason for that."

Jack immediately flew into a rage, "You don't want to save face, do you? Do you have to force me to take action? Let's attack together, fiercely!"

With a wave of his hand, the three immediately charged towards Alden as if starving tigers. Their average awakening value was as high as 85 points, something even geniuses with over a hundred awakening points would find difficult to deal with. However, Alden was already not what he used to be; he had unexpected cards up his sleeve!

"Outburst!" Without hesitation, Alden unleashed his awakened ability. It was just a momentary outburst, yet it was enough to shock the entire scene!

"Crack, crack, crack!" Three crisp sounds came and went in an instant. Before the onlookers could react, they saw Alden holding his knees, panting heavily. And the three, with their eyes rolling back, fainted on the ground!

All of this happened so quickly that no one present could see the moment when Alden made his move. Is this still the same waste with an awakening value of only 60 as three years ago? Even the top students of A City First High School would find it difficult to achieve this level, right?

"Phew... thankfully..." Alden slightly regulated his breathing and felt satisfied with his performance. With the second use of his ability, he had made significant progress in controlling its scale, reducing the side effects considerably and achieving quite a good effect.

He stood up and walked over to Jack and the others, unceremoniously kicking the three of them awake. "When did my brother become so violent?" Alia was dumbfounded. She was more surprised at Alden's behavior than his increase in strength. In the past, Alden had been low-key and resilient in character, never responding to the ridicule and provocation he faced for years due to his inability to break through his awakening value. This undoubtedly came as a disappointment to Alia, who had always admired him. However, at this moment, Alden displayed an unprecedented fierceness and bloodthirstiness!

Although Alia didn't understand, Alden considered it normal. He could endure for himself and his life, but when it came to his family, he couldn't stand by!

"Alden, you have some nerve! How dare you..." Jack's first reaction upon waking up was not shock, but fury. This pauper from the slums actually dared to go against him!

"Dare? Is this what you call daring?" Alden sneered, "Jack, no matter how noisy you were in the past in front of me, I just treated it as barking like a dog. But now, you insulted my sister to her face and demanded she kneel and apologize; that's seeking death!"

"You can consider all sorts of ways to retaliate. My life is worthless, do whatever you want with it. Just think carefully, as long as you dare to retaliate against me or my family, you and I, Alden, will be in an endless battle! When that happens, you better be prepared for anything I might do, so you won't regret it later!"

Jack and Alden locked eyes, and Jack couldn't help but shiver inwardly: this guy might really mean what he says! "This madman... I don't need to bother with a madman!" Jack thought. "When I become an awakened, I'll find an opportunity to kill him outright, to prevent future trouble!"

"Very well, you've got guts." Jack helped his comrades up, "Wait until your awakening day comes and see if you still have the capital to be so arrogant!" With Jack's awakening and the support of family resources, the probability of his awakening was quite high! At least much more reliable than Alden with a 60 awakening value! As for the strength Alden displayed... although powerful, it was completely insignificant compared to the awakening and awakening talents in terms of physical strength! This performance might be an indication of the extremely high correlation between awakening value and physical function, but it doesn't mean the awakening value is high enough. In Jack's view, the future Alden was at best just an advanced thug, a far cry from being on the same level as an awakened individual.

Alden paid no attention to what Jack thought. After watching the other party leave, he sent Flora away and then looked at Alia with a stern face. "You little girl... since when did you learn to fight with people?" In public, he had to protect his little sister, but in private, he had to give her a good education! "It's all because they said bad things about you!" Alia pouted, looking aggrieved. "It's fine for them to exclude me in general, but talking about you is not okay!"

Alden was momentarily speechless. Did he have any right to scold his sister in this regard?
