Ashlyn heard Kelvin's words and it felt like she'd been punched in the gut, but in a good way. All the air seemed to rush out of her body as she let out a sigh of relief. The tension in her body dissipated, leaving her feeling weightless as if she was floating on a cloud. Her heart soared with joy, and her voice trembled with emotion as she asked, "Really?"
Kelvin nodded, his smile broadened and his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Yes, I promised you I'd save her. The surgery was a success, and your mother is recovering well. She'll need time to rest, but I'm confident she'll make a full recovery."
Ashlyn's eyes welled up with tears as she let out a sob of relief, her body shaking with pent-up emotion. She felt like she'd been holding her breath for an eternity, and finally, she could exhale. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
