Haruki and Junjie arrived at Seoul Train Station, awaiting the arrival of the train from Busan. The station was bustling, a constant hum of activity and motion, people coming in and out of the station to continue their destination.
"So, when did you learn to use your power?" Haruki asked, glancing sideways at Junjie.
"I don't know, it just came out without me knowing it," his brows furrowed in thought.
"How is that possible?" Haruki's tone was a mix of skepticism.
Junjie shook his head, "I still don't know myself," feeling a twinge of frustration at his lack of understanding.
Before Haruki could press further, Junjie asked. "Say, what was that?" he asked, tapping at his forehead.
"It's what your rare energy looks like," but before he could continue on the train station alarm the new train arrived.
"Train from Busan have arrived" the soft lady's voice on the speaker
They both turned to see a girl stepping off the train, amiss the crowd. She had her red headphones around her neck, a candy pop in her mouth, and an air of nonchalance and a bit sleepy about her. She wore a panda beanie, giving her a quirky, unique look. In her hands, she held a map and a note, scanning her surroundings as if searching for someone.
Haruki took another quick check on Kensei's note, and her picture "That must be her"
He signaled Junjie to walk with him toward the girl. She looked up from her map, seeing two boys about her age standing in front of her.
"You must be Miss Shin Yuna," Haruki said
"Yes, I am and you are you?" her voice soft and lazy like she had just woke up from her nap talking with a candy pop inside her mouth
"I'm Haruki Kobayashi and this is Shi Junjie, we're from Ryuhai Shinmyoung Academy"
She looked at her notes again and looked up to confirm "Hmm? It said here to look for a tall, handsome man with snow white hair"
Ahh, that is Mr. Kensei
Haruki showed her the golden button on his uniform "This is the button for every student in Ryuhai Shinmyoung Academy, Mr. Kensei wasn't able to pick you up himself, so we'll come in his stead."
"Oh I see, ok I'll come with you then" She put her map back into her backpack
"That was fast" Haruki and Junjie looked at each other
---
After escorting the new student out of the station, they climbed atop a mountain through the old stone stair, then through the wooden shrine and into the academy grounds. Haruki showed her to her room, immediately she promptly put down her bag and fell asleep on her new soft bed without a care for the world or dinner.
"That ride must be exhaustion," Junjie said quietly
Haruki then signaled Junjie to have his dinner and retire to his room as well.
"Good night," they parted ways with Haruki slightly nodding in response
Junjie lay in his new bed, a larger and more comfortable bed than the one he had at home, yet the unfamiliarity of the room kept sleep at bay. He restlessly tossed and turned himself through the night, then a flick of light hit his eyes through the window.
The lights of the stadium were still on. "Huh, since when?" he wondered.
There in the stadium, Kensei was already back and engaged in a training session with Haruki, who was still in his uniform. The fight was intense and fluid. They exchanged a series of rapid hand-to-hand combat moves, each strike and block becoming faster than the eyes could follow, Haruki was breaking sweat as he tried to land a hit on Kensei, but as always, with a swift movement, Kensei landed a sharp elbow strike on Haruki, quickly followed by a light kick to the stomach. The force of the kick sent Haruki flying towards the roof.
"Shadow Water," Haruki shouted, activating his technique with a hand sign.
A black shadow from under him cushioning his fall. He landed softly on the shadow, vomiting from the pain of Kensei's kick.
"Never leave your body open, Haruki," Kensei said, his tone playful, as if he was teaching a young student, his body standing tall and firm without even a drop of sweat.
"Shadow Expansion: Black Abyss."
Dark shadows snaked out, latching onto Kensei's shadow and dragging him down into an abyss. The shadow grabbed onto his knee and leg sinking him down.
"Hmm, good," Kensei noted, standing atop the shadow, floating above it with white light beaming from beneath his feet, countering Haruki's technique.
"Let's wrap it up for today," Kensei declared, clapping his hands together. The black aura around Haruki's body dissipated and so as all the shadow holes in the stadium that existed defined all the rules of physics.
"Amazing," Junjie muttered to himself, peeking through the window.
Haruki nodded and exited the stadium, his steps heavy with exhaustion as he carried himself barely walking.
"Cool, isn't it, Junjie?" Kensei said suddenly, turning to Junjie who was hiding by the door behind him.
"Teacher Kensei, how did he do it?" Junjie asked, stepping into the light.
Kensei, with a knowing smile, responded, "That's what's called a technique."
Suddenly, with a flicker of his finger, both of them were instantly transported to the roof of the academy building.
"We are what's called 'The Users'," Kensei began, looking out over the expanse of the academy grounds.
"In the sorcerer world, there are five classes. E is the lowest, and the F class represents normal humans without the power to harness environmental energy. Anything above A class is considered a special grade. This applies to both users and monsters."
"The users are people born with a special function blended into their bodies that can absorb or unleash energy within themselves, creating techniques," Kensei continued.
"I see," Junjie said, absorbing the information."Then, what is your power?" he asked, intrigued.
"My power is called 'Dead Star'," Kensei replied, his gaze turning towards the night sky.
"In the universe, there are fragments of dead stars everywhere known as "Neutrinos". I absorb this energy and turn it into White."
"That's mean"
"Yep, that means I'll never run out of energy, ever" Kensei smiled
"There are only two most power users in this world – the 'White User ' and the 'Black User'," Kensei added. He then asked Junjie to throw a can lying next to his feet at him.
"Huh?" Junjie hesitated for a moment, then compiled. He threw the can as hard as he could toward Kensei.
When the can was flying nearly Kensei's face level it stopped. A clear blue barrier appeared, freezing it in time. Kensei's eyes turned blue. "This is my other technique, 'Blue',"
"Now, throw another can," Kensei instructed.
Junjie did as told, throwing the can twice as hard. This time, the can broke into small cubes before hitting the ground, disintegrating into unrecognizable tiny pieces. Kensei stood still, his eyes turning red.
"This is 'Red, Anything or anyone who comes in contact with red will automatically be ripped and dissolve into atoms within 3.489 seconds," he said smilingly, letting the energy around him do its work.
Junjie watched in stunned silence. A sweat dropped from his cheek. He had never seen so much power before, so powerful and deadly. Kensei's abilities were not like the power he saw in this world, that was in other words "The absolute power".
"Are there any other white users like you?" Junjie inquired a bit terrified
"Nah, I'm the world's only white user" Kensei put back on his round sunglasses
"Then who are the black users?"
"Valfar, the king of demons"
Junjie froze, he felt a slice tweaked in his core, as his memory passed to the night his body got possessed by the demon king. If he wasn't able to control his body that day, that world would most certainly fall apart.
"So, who will win in the fight?" another drop of sweat fell off his cheek
"I'll win," Kensei smirked and answered almost instantly. He answered like he could see through the future of every possible event and he was the one and only winner, the only strongest person alive.
