Chapter Twenty: The Rescue
"Are you sure?" Officer Ruby asked.
"Yes, I am, trust me," Officer Joe said. He looked into the eyes of his fellow law enforcers for trust.
"Look, I know you are trying to help but if he is in this building, we could have found him by now," Inspector Eric said. He waved off Officer Joe thought
"Just listen to me, just for once, please," Officer Joe said. He raised his voice because he was tired of their disbelief in him and his ideas. They gave him a skeptic look.
"He is in this building! Just believe me!" Officer Joe shouted. He drew the attention of other officers in the station. Officer Ruby and inspector Eric stared at him speechless, they felt his anger.
"Okay, don't raise your voice, you will draw the attention of the press and other officers. Okay If you want me to believe you, just find the area they are in this building and we will go and get them," Inspector Eric said with a calm voice. He realized that Officer Joe might be right and he decided to give him a try.
"Thank you! Finally, you guys listen to me," Officer Joe said and walked out. Inspector Eric is curious about how OfficerJoe is going to know the area where the commissioner is being held. So he sat down and waited for Officer Joe to return.
Mike sat down, looking at his screen and monitoring the event happening up at the police station. Mike laughed and spoke on the microphone "Impressive. You have a very intelligent officer, I mean Officer Joe is a good detective but I think he is going to catch me soon, I am sure that he is going to find out all your secrets and corruption, dear police commissioner Reynold," Mike said. And he sat back on the chair.
"Answer me, what do you want?" police commissioner Reynold asked. He looked left and right checking if he could see the person behind the anonymous voice but he could not.
"I want revenge! That's all!" Mike replied with a thunderous voice.
"What! I didn't even know you and besides the man was foolish," Commissioner Reynold said. Commissioner Reynold finished his statement with a mischievous laugh and that laugh annoyed Mike.
"Why are you laughing? What is funny?" Mike asked angrily and he raised his voice over the microphone.
Meanwhile, at the police station, Officer Joe came back with a building plan in hand. Other officers looked at him confused because they didn't know what he wanted to use the building plan for.
Officer Joe got to the spot where he sat earlier and the same place where Inspector Eric was seated waiting for him.
"Here is it," Officer Joe said. He dropped the building plan on the table and opened it, Inspector Eric was perplexed.
Officer Joe looked at the building plan and said "this is the building plan, and there are levels and rooms that are not in use anymore like the basement and some other rooms," Officer Joe explained. He pointed out rooms and levels in the police station building that are not functioning.
"I ask again, are you sure? Let it not be another waste of time," Officer Ruby said. She was skeptical about Officer Joe's proposed plan.
"Yes I am, trust me," Officer Joe said. He looked at her eyes to obtain her trust.
"Okay, so you are saying that we should search all the rooms and levels in this building," Inspector Eric asked. He partially agreed with officer Joe's idea.
"No, not really but I feel it is around this level, we are right now," Officer Joe said. He pointed out the building plan, the level he and his fellow law enforcers are standing right now.
Now back to Mike and his hostage, police commissioner Reynold. Mike asked commissioner Reynold a question but the commissioner kept laughing mischievously.
Mike's anger grew but all of a sudden, he became calm and he said "not everyone is your friend and not everyone is your enemy, remember that,".
Commissioner Reynold was confused and he said "what is wrong with you? The man you talked about died like a dog and his son is not even worried about it and why is this important to you?". Those words were not good words to anyone that it is been said to.
In a split second, Mike's anger came back and he was so furious and he replied with a loud voice, "Because I am his son!". Mike's words revealed his identity.
"Wait a minute Mike? Is that you? I can't believe it, answer me! It is you, isn't it? You must be a grown man now, Mike, talk to me!" commissioner Reynold said. He deduced the identity of Mike quickly by those words that came out of Mike's mouth.
Mike tries to reply but he couldn't know fully well that he has messed up. Mike hits the table with his hands and gasps, a little teardrop comes down his cheeks because he knows that a new chapter just began, and a risky one, to be honest.
Mike's phone beeps and he sees a text message from Pearl that says, "please we need to talk, it is important,". Mike looked at it and gasped and buried his head in silence.
"Mike! I promise I will find you, you hear me? And I will arrest you," police commissioner Reynold said.
Now back to the police station and the three law enforcers. "So where exactly do you think he is being held?" Inspector Eric asked. He started getting interested in the plan.
"I don't really know but the only hidden and abandoned room or facility close to this level is an abandoned basement and interrogation room." Officer Joe said. He pointed at the basement and abandoned interrogation rooms in the map, he then said "I think that he is around this building,".
"Okay, you guys heard the man! Let's move it," Inspector Eric said. He ordered officers to get ready, the policemen geared ready to engage.
The police squad decided to burst the basement and interrogation room. Mike was notified by his motion censure. as the police squad approach the interrogation room
Mike looked at the screen and smiled. Mike removed a drive out of the computer he was using and said "don't worry about it me, should be worried about Officer Joe." Mike finished his statement and he stood up and left, leaving commissioner Reynold still seated down and tied to a chair.
The police squad got to the door and burst in, and they saw police commissioner Reynold tied to a chair and they assisted him but did not see Mike on the other side of the interrogation room.
As police commissioner Reynold came out of of the hostage he was being kept and the policemen, helped him to get back on his feet.
As they helped him get up, Officer Joe asked, "What is the suspect name, or can you describe him?".
"Yes. Yes, his name...…."
