Chapter 18 - indecisive liar

The atmosphere has improved since Tony showed his awkward smile in front of everyone. Jimmy burst into laughter, unintentionally lightened the mood.

But behind that, there is someone who is thinking about the future they will face as ordinary students. With glasses on his face, he looks like a very smart bookworm. That person is Harry, who Ray is currently observing closely.

Ray is curious about what Harry is thinking right now, causing him to continue to pay attention to Harry's movements without realizing it.

Harry realizes that he is being watched right now. It is clear that Ray is openly observing him. He realizes this and looks confused and slightly disturbed.

"What's wrong, Ray? Do you want to ask something?" Harry asks.

"Huh?... Ah?... Oh sorry, I was just curious about what you're thinking," Ray replies.

"What do you think I'm thinking? Of course, I'm currently confused about what steps I should take in the future. Especially since I'm not the only one sent to this world."

"Oh."

"Instead of me, I'm more curious about the reason why you can know about what you meant earlier."

"Earlier?"

Before Harry continues his words, Alex, who is nearby, suddenly interrupts the conversation.

"Mr. Ray, I'm also curious about what you meant earlier. You said that the mansion nearby will become hell, right?"

"Yes, and?"

"Near this summoning ritual place, there is only one mansion closest to it. It is the mansion owned by princess Elaina."

"Elaina? Who is she?"

Alex looks a bit angry and tries to control his anger. With a high tone, he warns, "Mr. Ray, please don't just call princess Elaina by her name without honorifics."

"Oh sorry, how about I call her Miss Elaina? More importantly, are you asking about the reason why I can be sure about that?"

Ray didn't care who Alex was referring to at the moment. trying to change the conversation.

Alex sighs and answers, "That's better... And yeah, I want to know the reason why you are so sure."

Ray looks a bit confused and thoughtful.

What reason should I give him? Is it okay if I tell him the truth?

On the other hand, I want to trust him and reveal everything. But deep down in my heart, I doubt my actions.

What if I become their test subject? What if they only use me for their own benefit?

Was my step from the beginning to directly tell them about it wrong?

From the beginning, I even doubted that they would believe everything I wanted to reveal.

In the end, Ray decides to find another reason to gain Alex's trust.

"Actually, I gained this ability from a god."

Ugh... This uncomfortable feeling...

Harry looks a bit angry at Ray and says, "Ray, this is not the time to joke."

Ray tried to ignore it.

Meanwhile, Alex's response is the opposite. "Is that so, Mr. Ray? So the ability you obtained can make you know about future events?"

Alex looks excited and enthusiastic after hearing what Ray said.

Seeing that, Harry is surprised and realizes that this world is truly not the world where he used to live. He mutters, "So this world has have something like that..."

***

"Well, you can say something like that. I can know something that will happen in the future," Ray explains to alex.

"Seeing the future?"

"Mr. Alex, I can't reveal all the details. Please understand..."

"Oh sorry, I got too excited," Alex apologizes and follows it with a short, loud laugh.

Thank goodness... It seems that people in this kingdom are easy to believe in others. It's good for me, but on the other hand, it's also a bad thing.

When Ray feels relieved and safe, Alex suddenly realizes something and asks Ray with a confused face, "Mr. Ray, you shouldn't be able to know your ability or even use it without going to the church first. How do you know about your own ability?"

Ray is surprised and slightly panics. With doubt in his heart, he answers Alex's question, "I don't know, I just accidentally activated it. I really don't know the details of this ability."

"Can it be like that?"

"I don't know about others. But that's how it is for me..."

"I'll believe you for now, Mr. Ray."

Alex believes Ray's words, although he still has doubts about what he said. But he chooses to trust Ray because he is also aware that he doesn't fully understand the abilities given directly by the gods or goddesses in this world.

"Then, can I ask for your help?" Alex asks.

"What kind of help?"

"As you heard, the mansion near this place will become hell."

"What do you mean by becoming hell?"

"Some terrorists will attack that mansion and target the heroes to kill them."

Ray's statement leaves Jimmy, Harry, and Tony in a state of shock. With fear, Tony asks Ray, "Are we being targeted? Who are they?"

Jimmy also asks with an uneasy expression, "Are you sure about that, Ray?"

Ray confidently replies, "I have no doubt about it. But as for the terrorists I mean, I don't really know who they are."

Tony holds back his fear by gripping his left wrist with his right hand, hoping that the pain in his left hand can reduce or even eliminate his fear. Luckily, that method has a slight impact on him.

Meanwhile, Jimmy and Harry seem to be deep in thought, although Jimmy's face looks a bit wrinkled.

Ray understands why they are worried like that. He realizes that it is normal to worry after knowing that a bad future is waiting for them. He is also grateful that only three people from the entire class know about this. Because he knows that if he reveals it to everyone, there will only be conflicts between several sides.

The first side that will definitely exist is the party that chooses to flee from this kingdom. Ray is sure that some of his classmates will also agree with this.

The second side that will definitely exist is the party that wants to continue fighting. Ray believes that his classmates will hesitate about that.

The third side that Ray believes is the party of people who choose to rebel and ask to be returned to their original world. It is certain that many will agree from his classmate's side.

While Ray is deducing in his mind, Alex, who has been silent, suddenly asks, "What are terrorists?"

Surprised by that, Ray almost laughs hearing Alex's question. It makes him reflexively cover his mouth that is smiling because he wants to laugh.
