Chapter 23 - Encounters

For those born within the circle of elites, developing an arrogant sense of superiority was only natural.

Leon fixed his gaze on the man with monkey-like ears, his eyes growing colder with each passing moment.

"What are you looking at? Planning to hit me? Let me warn you, if you dare to strike me, young master Leonis won't let you off."

"Scram!" Leon shouted, landing a punch on the young man's nose. With a resounding "peng," the man was sent flying, crashing into a pile of debris amidst broken furniture and pots.

Lying there, hair disheveled, face dripping with blood, the man's nose had sunk inward. Being newly recruited, his cultivation was only at the 2nd level in Foundation.

The landlady, shocked, bulged her eyes for several moments before screaming, "Help! Murder!"

Attempting to rush out, her fat legs failed her, and she fell to the floor with a plop. Leon, without a word, began to leave the room.

After watching the drama, Alex went and helped the landlady to stand up and gave his room key.

" Thanks for your help young sir " said the landlady in a polite tone.

Alex exited the inn in silence, and decided not to visit this inn again. As he traversed the market, his eyes caught sight of a Monster Pavilion shop that dealt in buying and selling monster meat.

Alex decided to head towards the shop, considering that selling the Fox bear there would be worthwhile, given Lucas's recommendation about the shop owner offering reasonable prices.

The servant stationed outside the shop warmly welcomed Alex upon realizing he was a disciple of the academy, a dream nearly unattainable for the locals.

The shop owner, noticing the young man, asked, "What do you want to sell, young man?" in a tone that conveyed friendliness.

Alex didn't say anything and took out the body of the Fox bear and placed it on the table which made the owner surprised.

The Shop owner immediately came and started observing the body of the bear, and after few minutes he stood up and said

" I can give you 300 low grade spirit stones and not more than this"

When Alex saw that it was a reasonable price, he nodded his head with a smile and took the 300 spirit stones.

" If you ever want to sell monster meat again, don't forget our shop, " said the shop owner looking at the decipated head of the bear.

Alex gave a thumbs up and was about to leave when, by chance, he encountered Leon entering the shop.

Seeing the large Fox bear, Leon's expression shifted from surprise to realization as he glanced at Alex. Accustomed to considering himself the strongest in his class, Leon was taken aback.

"It was a team task," Alex lied without hesitation, causing Leon's face to ease slightly. Although skeptical, Leon refrained from probing too deeply. Unable to gauge Alex's strength when he entered, he chose not to dent his own confidence.

"It's okay. I'm not weak enough to be bothered by this," reassured Leon, presenting some monster bodies at General 1st and 2nd rank.

Alex smiled and continued on his way, reaching the outer courtyard where a massive building stood. Climbing to the first floor, he found Supervisor Dorian engaged in conversation with Silvia, Noah, and another individual.

Their surprise was evident when they noticed Alex's presence. Dorian, recalling Alex as the one who took an E-level task during his morning shift, jokingly asked, "Don't tell me you've already completed the task?"

"Yes, I completed it Elder," replied Alex, presenting the wooden token which he used to record his fight with the Fox bear.

Dorian swiftly took the token, examining the recording in his mind. Silvia, now more respectful, looked at Alex, understanding the importance of strength at the academy.

Casually, Silvia inquired, "Alex, what was your task?" The others alongside her also turned their attention to him.

Before Alex could respond, Dorian's voice interrupted, "Yes, you successfully completed the E-level task." Shocked, Noah and the others were left speechless.

Suddenly, Alex's academy jade card buzzed. Clicking on it, his information appeared on the screen.

{ Name: Alex Obsidian

Affiliation: Obsidian Clan; Heavenly Star Academy

Status: Outer disciple

Academy points: 1050 }

When he saw that his academy points has increased, Alex had a smile on his face

" Thanks Elder "

"And also congratulations on reaching the 5th level in Foundation," Dorian expressed in an appreciative tone but inwardly he was shocked.

Silvia, upon hearing this, immediately exclaimed, "That's impossible!" Even Noah had only reached the 4th level today, and that was with the assistance of an elixir from his father.

Dorian, angered by Silvia's disbelief, sternly responded, "So this young girl is saying that I am the one lying here?"

Quick to diffuse the situation, Noah made Silvia bow her head and said, "I apologize on her behalf, Elder."

Hearing Noah's apology who also has good potential, Dorian eased up a bit and warned, "You better not repeat this," pointing his finger at Silvia.

" Yes Elder" replied Silvia.

Alex who was seeing this shook his head and went out of the building where he saw many with tired expressions after completing their tasks.

Since it was already night, he went to his house where the food was already delivered by the handyman disciple.

Alex ate the food and he slumped on his bed immediately without taking off his clothes and fell asleep as he was feeling very tired and his arms were feeling sore.

The past two months in the academy were very satisfying to Alex and also he didn't join any faction but due to his background, he wasn't faced with any problems compared to Leon who was a commoner and since he is also the protagonist, he was bound to face the problems.

While Alex was sleeping soundly, he had a strange dream.
