Crescent Island is the largest island in the Near Sea Archipelago and also the easternmost one.
The island overall has the shape of a crescent moon, with its convex side facing the open sea and the concave side facing the Near Sea Archipelago.
From very high above, it looks as if it is reaching out its arms, embracing the archipelago.
Thus, Crescent Island has another name, 'Huai.' 'Huai' as in embrace, but also as in remembrance.
Whether it's called Huai Island or Crescent Island, the distinguished Diao Hai Building's main building is located there.
'The bright moon arises above the sea; here one bids farewell to the world's end.'
These are the inscriptions on the steep cliffs of the End of the World Platform, which is hence named as such.
Legend has it that on the highest End of the World Platform of this island, the founder of Diao Hai Building once stood alone with a rod, fishing for dragons!
That is also the origin of the name 'Diao Hai Building.'
