"Thud, thud, thud!"
Wei Cheng knocked on the old security door in front of him, his hollow knocks echoing in the silent corridor.
Much like the echo of time gone by.
Soon, the door opened. A lady, fairly attractive, with no makeup, dressed in homey clothes, and wearing an apron, appeared with a puzzled expression.
"May I ask who you're looking for?"
Wei Cheng felt awkward, he didn't expect to meet Qi Mei's mother. Looking at the woman who was just about a decade older than him, he didn't know whether to call her aunt or sister.
"Mom, this is my friend, I have some important matter to attend to, so I won't be having dinner at home today!"
Qi Mei appeared, her head lowered, flip-flops on her feet, dressed in a T-shirt and short pants, her hair messy and her face bare.
At this moment, she looked like a petty thief caught in the act, panicky. Apparently, she didn't anticipate Wei Cheng visiting her directly.
"Ah, how about having dinner at home?"
