The annual Dharma Hall selection had begun.
The selection consisted of three assessments, achieving "above average" in all three or "excellent" in two would suffice for selection.
The first assessment was a personal demonstration, where individuals showcased their best skills in front of the head of Dharma Hall;
The second assessment was a test of skills, involving a fight with a monk sent by the Dharma Hall, lasting the duration of an incense stick;
The third assessment was single combat, where monks and nuns participating in the selection fought one-on-one.
In the first two assessments, Link had easily achieved an "excellent" grade. As long as the grade for the third assessment wasn't "well below average," even a "below average" would qualify him for Dharma Hall.
Monk Liao Xin, who had previously had a verbal dispute, also performed well.
