The fish were quickly caught.
Pei Ye and Xu Chuo simultaneously stopped talking and looked down.
The little merfolk held the fish by the gills with one hand and, with the other hand's sharp nails, gently sliced off two strips of firm white flesh from the belly and put them in her mouth.
Though they were employing the practice of eating live food, they did so with more elegance than most people. Pei Ye could imagine them sitting on the vast and deserted Moonlit Reef, their tails dipping into the water, leisurely savoring the taste of freshly caught seafood. It seemed that those rare fish seldom seen on normal days were merely a random order of breakfast, lunch, and dinner in those eyes.
The two of them watched this fresh scene with great interest when Pei Ye suddenly said, "Shall we give her a name? I don't even know what to call her."
"Alright," Xu Chuo sipped some hot tea and agreed without objection, "Whatever you call her will do."
