After leaving the Taihe Gate, the Jingtai Emperor headed towards the Fengtian Hall behind.
Yu Hongshang followed closely, hugging the child woodenly as if in a trance.
Upon entering the gates, the Jingtai Emperor looked over at Yu Hongshang with a look of affection and regret, sighing softly, "I've wronged you, Hongshang. I have failed you as a father."
He knew the enormity of the sacrifice his daughter had made for him and Crown Prince Yu Jianji.
Yu Hongshang's eyes welled up at once, she turned her head away and said: "What are you talking about, Father? Before I am married, I am under your care. You have given me life. If you ask something of me, how can I not obey? Moreover, this involves the royal lineage, I do understand the bigger picture."
The Jingtai Emperor, however, detected the resentment and estrangement in Yu Hongshang's words. An inkling of regret surged in his heart.
