Murphy left the house.
He took the "daylight potion" bestowed upon him by Jed, a concoction specifically to induce weakness in vampires, and resolved to join Jed in the final power struggle against the Blood Vulture Clan.
However, Jed didn't truly trust him, Murphy was aware of that. He was just a pawn to Jed, being manipulated with the promise of future power to betray his current friends.
It was a familiar sequence of events.
Especially in traditional vampire society, it was almost impossible for one vampire to fully trust another.
It wasn't merely blood flowing in their veins. It was a lethal cocktail of conspiracy and malice, fermented in the darkness of night.
A touch meant death, a glimpse meant silence.
Several minutes after Murphy left, the door to the house was opened again.
This time, it was Maxim who walked in.
