The elevated character level reflects the degree of mastery over their personal power and skills at this stage. In other words, you won't level up any slower carelessly hacking at a pile of monsters than you would just swinging a sword in the air.
If you practice diligently, you may even level up faster.

This is also very important. I just asked Black Silk and Ring Attack. They said that the mastery level swordsmanship handbook is not effective at one click. After getting the book, you need to carefully read and remember the swordsmanship techniques, and then practice accordingly.
And most importantly, even though they both got the master's handbook, the swordsmanship techniques are not the same!
