They still wanted to play for a while longer, but the young players who had grown weary of digging holes heaved a sigh of relief in secret.
Following the mannerisms of Milian, they awkwardly used the gestures of this world to bid farewell to Sir Murphy, vanishing on the spot under the scattered glow of the dismissal spell.
The armor and weapons that they had been wearing fell to the ground as support vanished.
This commotion caused Murphy to shake his head.
Indeed, no matter how one looked at it, the light show at the players' exit was way too exaggerated.
However, this kind of situation would occur only when they were being forcibly kicked offline by the administrator. Presumably, once the players had free access in the future, they'd be able to retain their entities temporarily after logging off.
At the very least, they wouldn't have to re-equip every time they logged on, but the issue of the light show when they die still needed to be pondered over.
The same spectacle caused Milian to blink her eyes, the smart but cunning girl looked dubiously at Murphy but didn't make any comments.
"Bandage them up. It'd be best if they could survive, if not, it's simply their bad luck."
Murphy pointed at the fainting female hunter and her two men who were tied up.
Although the young players were brave, they did not have the courage to kill in this highly realistic game yet. This was thanks to the education they received from a civilized society. Therefore, they merely subdued the rival squad, and only one of them had died, due to excessive blood loss.
The leader, "Grey-haired Demon Hunting Princess" Natalie was injected with a sleeping drug. The scout, Ambo, and the one-armed veteran, Porter, both survived, albeit severely injured. In contrast, the four witch-hunting players who attempted to break through and escape unfortunately ran into Blood Vulture Clan's midnight hunters.
Their survival was left to fate.
Humph, if they had known better, wouldn't it have been better to surrender obediently?
The sound of neighing warhorses soon rang out in the night. Murphy stood at the entrance of the devastated village, spotting his faithful servant in one glance.
Upon seeing Murphy, the horse-riding Maxim cried tears of joy. This loyal and zealous vampire devotee quickly came over.
He did his best to contain his excitement and said loudly to Murphy:
"I have successfully fulfilled the mission, Sir Murphy! I handed over the Clan Leader's secret order to the contact and also requested them to come help. I am happy to find you safe and sound."
Without saying much, Murphy, who was exhausted after the battle, gently patted Maxim's shoulder.
Now, he was certain that he could trust and rely on this albino loyal servant. Even though Maxim was still technically someone else's Blood Servant in name, Murphy had already decided to request Lord Jed to give Maxim to him when they returned to Cardman City.
He could never have enough of such capable and loyal talents.
As the two of them were conversing, this vampire saw five "people" drop from the sky from behind.
Judging from their large yet graceful scarlet capes and refined, luxurious midnight hunting outfits, it was clear that these five individuals were the elite hunters from the Blood Vulture Clan. Their official profession would be "Midnight Hunters", basically a combination of hunters and assassins.
Just by standing there they seemed to blend into the night around them, making him seem like a complete novice in comparison.
As Murphy observed these vampires, they too observed him, ultimately concluding that he was exceptionally weak.
They couldn't believe he could mess up a simple mission like delivering a message, making him a disgrace to the Blood Vulture Clan.
However, the shortest vampire among them seemed to retain some semblance of midnight nobility and didn't immediately resort to mockery. Instead, he first surveyed the situation in Morlan village. His eyes narrowed at the sight of the burned corpses, then relaxed. Finally, he spoke in a cold, steady voice:
"Congratulations, fellow, it seems you've just successfully completed a hunt and harvested a valuable victory. You've justly arrested these villains daring to intrude on Blood Vulture territory and slaughter our subjects. On behalf of the clan's current Civilian Protection Officer, I'd like to express my gratitude.
Perhaps I shouldn't be interrupting your sweet victory celebration, however, there is something in your possession that I need now."
A woman?
Murphy blinked his eyes.
Then he reached into his clothing and took out the Psychic Decoding Seal, handing it over to her.
She then took out the Clan Leader's secret order that Maxim had delivered previously, and put the seal on the scroll before finally unlocking the psychic device for encryption.
Seeing this, Maxim, who was standing next to Murphy, finally had an epiphany and his heart was filled with admiration for Sir Murphy's supreme intelligence.
The master had only given him the secret order scroll but not the decoding seal. As such, these hunters, despite their resentment, had to come to help Murphy avoid the decoding seal falling into the hands of Witch Hunters.
Murphy noticed Maxim's change in expression and gave him a subtle look, leaving Maxim to guess what it meant.
Oh well, to these cold-blooded vampires who were facing the threat of war, a low-level courier without any ties and a low-ranking member of their clan was definitely disposable if the occasion called.
Even though Murphy hadn't been a vampire for long, Cui Si's teachings had made him more than cautious enough to deal with his "fellow" vampires.
Whenever Cui Si became drunk, she would frequently clink her glass with his and remind him that when fighting alongside vampires, it was even more important to guard against them stabbing you in the back than it was to defend against their attacks in the battlefield.
