Lewis abruptly grabbed her hand. "You don't know Uncle Olsen. He's domineering in his actions and won't give you a chance to explain. If I'm not mistaken, as soon as you and Ellis go downstairs, he'll cripple one of your legs!"
Keira's pupils constricted.
She looked at Ellis, only to see the man digging in his ear. "My third uncle said an arm and a leg would suffice as an apology," he said.
Keira remained silent.
Was it really like that?
She frowned, about to say something more, when Lewis stepped forward. "Let's each take a step back. I'll go down with you, and we can talk to Uncle Olsen."
Ellis pulled the finger he had been using to clean his ear, blew on it as though to remove something nonexistent, and chuckled. "I don't mind you going down to chat with my third uncle, but how is this each taking a step back?"
