Was he called to the palace just to burn incense for Princess Yunrou?
Jiang Shu found it strange, but he had no choice but to obey the Emperor's command.
In Emperor Yue's eyes, Yunrou was an innocent and lovely daughter. However, in his heart, Yunrou was a wilful and spoiled princess. Since being targeted by her, Jiang Shu's life had become much more troublesome.
Yet, she was dead now, and the past could be put to rest.
Yunrou met her death at the hands of Su Luo. Lighting this incense stick could, perhaps, serve as an atonement for Su Luo.
Under the watchful gaze of the Emperor, he lit the incense, bowed thrice and was about to kneel for the ceremonies when Emperor Yue stopped him: "This is enough."
Jiang Shu did not insist anymore.
After the incense ceremony, Emperor Yue finally led him out of the oppressive and cold mourning hall, walking onto the pathway lined with a thin layer of snow towards Zhengyang Palace.
