The carriage took an abrupt turn and started to gallop away.
Caught off guard, Su Luo jolted from side to side within the carriage, occasionally bumping her head against its wall. Ignoring the pain, she reached for the handle on the wall and pulled aside the curtain, only to gasp in shock. Blood drained from her face.
The horses were startled and they were now galloping like lunatics, neighing as they went. Su Luo could barely make out her surroundings due to their overwhelming speed.
The horses kept veering off, further and further away from the city instead of the route they had come from. The terrain seemed to mimic that of a mountain path, rough and full of abrupt jerks, indicating they were indeed not returning to the city.
Gripping the carriage's wall tightly, amidst the wild jolts, Su Luo saw a dagger planted in one of the horse's hindquarters.
The dagger had punctured deep, with fresh blood spilling out and staining the hilt red.
