Chapter 39 - Grounded Geos

"Hey Amber, do you mind if I invite Navia over to the hideout for today?" asked Hu Tao. "Sure, but what's the occasion?" said Amber. "Well, I really love her personality plus she was fun to work with when we investigated that robbery and I want to introduce her to Mr. Zhongli and Ningguang" "Alright, I'm thinking that she's currently in Fontaine at the moment, so I'll make the arrangements" Amber said before rushing off. It was late afternoon when Navia arrived, everyone got along well with her. "Did you guys see how she dresses?" whispered Aether. "She looks like a clock from England" laughed Lumine. "Teyvat's feminine Big Ben, everyone, hahaha!" they teased. "What were you saying, twins?" chimed in Navia. The twins stopped in their shoes. "Because, that was a very clever joke" she praised, leaving the twins much relived. "Navia's one of the few that can understand the twins' humor, that's a great honor to have" said Hu Tao. "It's not a honor really, I can be quite the jokester when I'm not busy, but if you lovely darlings could excuse us, me and Hu Tao need to discuss something important alone" told Navia, and off the Pyro and Geo went. "Now Navia, do you know about the little place near the Mid called Geoculus?" "Uh no, why, is it something important?" "Well since you're a Geo too, I want to introduce you to two of my work colleagues, Zhongli and Ningguang" "Oh" said Navia with interest, "They seem like nice people to meet, lead the way, butterfly" leaving Hu Tao with a endearing blushful face. It was late when they arrived at Fontaine, so they slept until the train came tomorrow morning. "Thank goodness they added trains here, last time I went there, we had to go by foot" "Oh dear" sympathized Navia. "Ah well, I had to do it for years, I was hopping between there and Vietnam for quite some time, so it's not all bad" assured Hu Tao. Navia just smiled and let out a soft sigh. When they arrived, Hu Tao thought of a great song to sing when she knocked on the door. "Guess who's back, back again, tell a friend, Tao is back!" "Oh, it's you again" answered Ningguang. "You know, you've been hopping from place to place, I'm surprised you still know your way around" she continued. "Salutations, Director, I've seen the butterflies flutter by so I knew you were approaching here" Zhongli spoke formally, while Hu Tao just giggled. "Who is this accomplice that you've brought along?" asked Zhongli. "My name's Navia, nice to meet you proud Geos, you know what they say, we have to muck up the groundwork" she said while winking. Zhongli laughed, while Ningguang was still grumbling. "Now, what do you guys do for work here?" Navia asked. "Well we mainly provide the necessary materials needed to build the statues all around Teyvat, but sometimes we help with refurbishing the Mid-Teyvat, and on rare occasions, we go on explorations" informed Zhongli. "Huh, you guys are really important in the grand scheme of things, I suppose" thought Navia. "Ah well, besides the Electros, the Geos are the second best element of all of Teyvat" said Hu Tao. "Then I'm glad to be one" smiled Navia. "Uh, Mr. Zhongli, sir, can I help rebuild your statue for today?" she asked. "Well that was supposed to be Ningguang, but I'll let you take it, she won't mind anyway" But she did, and when Navia and Zhongli left for their work at the Mid-Teyvat, she complained about every little thing to Hu Tao, she was most jealous at Navia. "Who does she think she is, poking her nose up in here and taking my jobs, what right does she have?!" "Well, it would be nice for a change" said Hu Tao. "I won't stand it, I'm not letting newbies replace me, and I'm not letting Zhongli decide on what I have to do!" Hu Tao thought of a nice prank to play on Ningguang, so she waited until Navia returned to the workshop. "You know, Navia, Ningguang has been saying that you are going to replace her, we both know that's not true, but just for the sake of it, we'll try something fun" she snickered. "What do you mean something fun?" asked the concerned Geo. Once Hu Tao told her, she also laughed mischievously. "Um Ningguang", asked Navia when she returned, "Do you think that you're better than me?" "Of course, I'm the second most important Geo, everybody knows it, I get my jobs done, with no fuss" she boasted. "That is if we put aside your clumsiness" added Hu Tao. "Regardless, you couldn't beat me even if you tried, Navia, so there" she finished. "Alright, well I got a challenge, whoever can persuade Zhongli the most gets to stay, while the other leaves" Navia said. "Ha ha ha, never going to happen" protested Ningguang. "Ha ha ha, we'll just wait and see" mimicked Navia. "Ha ha ha, fuck you" said Ningguang gravely. Navia with the help of Hu Tao set up a wonderful dinner party for Zhongli, meanwhile Ningguang had planned to take him to a restaurant. "Oh, I see I am faced with a somewhat complicated decision, I think my decision shall be that I'll attend to Navia and Hu Tao's delicacies" said Zhongli, making Ningguang even more cross. "You know, Zhongli, you are one of the best Archons to exist, possibly even better than Raiden herself" said Navia fondly. "As much as I love the compliment, I have discussed before that me and the Shogun are equally matched, as is every Archon of Teyvat" he stated. "You sure do have a way with your words, Navia, it's almost like if she wants to stay here with us" continued Hu Tao. "No!", Ningguang interrupted, "I won't let Navia replace me and I won't let you be persuaded by a long haired immigrant and her little detective, I won't allow it!" "Ningguang, you must be mistaken, I would never replace you, you've been my most reliable worker since you came here" Then he smiled, "Also, Navia and Hu Tao, if you wanna teach Ningguang some sense, just put her on refurbishing the Mid-Teyvat, that'll do it" "And, to you, Ningguang, your quick assumptions can be your downfall, so next time it happens, you will be, ahem, 'grounded' to say the least" Navia and Hu Tao just laughed, while Ningguang just went to rest, now feeling rather silly.
