Chereads / The Author’s Paradox / Chapter 9 - The true beginning

Chapter 9 - The true beginning

After the trio activity, teacher Lizy dismissed us to rest until lunchtime. Many students took the opportunity to get to know their dormitories, and of course I went along. In the huge campus of Pentagon Academy, the dormitories of the first year students are located in a huge mansion capable of accommodating everyone comfortably. However, the rooms in the mansions vary depending on your rank in the academy. As I am rank 2045, I must admit that I am happy that my room has a bed.

The room had a common and simple appearance, having only a bed, a small table, a black velvety rug under the wooden table. A kitchen, a bathroom and that's it.

But that alone was enough. Lying on my bed, I ponder as I look at the news on my cell phone: "The test generated a lot of controversy. Sam as always, is receiving an overwhelming media spotlight, portraying him as a future class S.

The rest of the main cast also received a lot of notoriety. And me? Well, I received more criticism from internet users than praise. To be honest, only one or two people commented on me. The two said how I and Michael were idiots and cowards.

Well, that's very good. But one thing is certain to be noticed, the lizard got very strong, I don't remember adding that to the plot…

Oh, of course, the mysterious entity that dropped me into this world, must have decided to play with the plot, keeping me in the dark and not knowing exactly what will happen. After all, who needs predictability when it comes to living inside a novel, right? The fun is in the surprise and the uncertainty, at least for those who are watching from the front row.

---

I sighed, stretched out on the bed, and said, "I need to find a way to get stronger and faster… Maybe I should train, because my fighting skills are so bad that even the wind beats me at tug of war."

My ability is strong, but I can't rely solely on it. I have some ideas to get stronger, but I can't get them right now. One of them is the fruit of infinity. This fruit was something the system gave to Sam so that he could get stronger and have unlimited talent. Unlike me, whose talent goes up to class E. (Class E for "Eek, is that good?")

This fruit of infinity will appear during the massacre on the excursion. The villains attacked the students who were on vacation, causing a real mess. That's when the system gave Sam a mission: save all the living students and defeat the villains.

He succeeded with a lot of effort and a fatal loss, Ellie. Ellie is killed after letting her guard down because of Blake, who thought he had defeated the villain. But even with Ellie on the brink of death, the system rewarded Sam with the fruit of limitation. And to save Ellie, he gave her the fruit to eat.

Due to the miraculous effects of the fruit, Ellie is healed and her potential extends infinitely.

All I have to do is steal Sam's fruit. (Steal Sam's fruit? Eek, is that a good idea?)

In a luxurious room, with gleaming white walls, a girl with hair as black as night and deep purple eyes was immersed in a phone conversation. Her soft voice echoed through the environment as she gave precise instructions to her interlocutor. "Yes, I want you to look up all the information about him," she said with determination.

The voice on the phone, clearly surprised, questioned: "Huh? Are you that interested in a nobody like him?"

"My eyes are not usually impressed by little things, you should know that," she replied, keeping her cool.

"Yes, yes. But what did you see that's so special about him?", the interlocutor asked, clearly intrigued.

The girl, with a thoughtful look turned towards the window, replied firmly: "An opportunity".

"I see… I'll start the investigations. I'll get back to you within a week," promised the interlocutor.

"Ok, I'll be waiting," replied the girl, ending the call. She reveals herself as Chloe Sunshine, and her final words echo in the room: "Dean Carleone… You can fool others, but not me."

Meanwhile, Dean prepares for the challenges that lie ahead, aware that time is running out. With only two months until the event that awaits him, he knows he needs to improve his combat skills. Fate seems to weave a complex web around him, and the enigmatic presence of Chloe Sunshine promises to add a new layer of mystery and intrigue to his journey.

In a solitary training field, Ellie was forcefully training against Blake. The sound of blades clashing echoed through the place, followed by a thud that left her panting on the ground.

"Are you okay?" Blake asked, extending his hand to her worriedly.

Ellie just nodded and got up, determined to return to training.

Blake sighed seeing this and said, "We've been training for hours, I think we should rest a bit."

"No, I'm almost reaching the E+ rank." She raised her katana, ready to restart the fight.

Scratching his head frustrated, seeing that he wouldn't be able to change the situation, Blake raised his dagger, ready to restart the duel.

In another training arena, Diana, with her blonde hair tied back, contrasting with her blue eyes, was training against a student. The sound of blades clashing echoed through the place, but with a simple move, Diana disarmed the opponent.

The student, embarrassed at being disarmed, quickly ran towards the sword to resume training with Diana. He didn't care about himself, he just didn't want Diana to find it boring to train with him. But it was already too late.

"Let's stop for now…" Diana said as she put away her foil.

"W-Wait. I … still…" the student tried to argue, but Diana interrupted him kindly.

"I can't evolve against you. I need to find someone at my level," Diana said, with a sweetness that would make anyone feel insignificant.

The student recognized those words and agreed, acknowledging his own weakness to train with Diana. As Diana prepared to leave the arena, a voice caught her attention, it was Sam: "Diana, right? Can we train together?"

In a luxurious and organized office, an old-looking man with white hair and beard had to listen to his pupil bragging:

"Director, they easily defeated the Class E- monsters. This year's freshmen are not weaklings. It must be my super ability as a teacher, hehe."

"Ah, Lizy… You didn't come to my room to say that, did you?" the director replied.

"Hehehe, no, no," she said, with an enigmatic smile, as she scratched her head. "I just came to say that I couldn't find anyone available to help me train the novices."

The director nodded in response. "Thank you, keep looking for someone to help train the freshmen."

Lizy nodded in agreement and left the office.

Completely alone now, the director leaned on the table as he thought. "I don't want to imagine that one of the students is a spy…"

Suddenly, a hologram caught the director's attention, it was a video of the first-year students' battle against the monsters.

For some reason, he couldn't take his eyes off a boy with black hair and blue eyes. A flashback came to his mind, of someone saying: "He has no history at all, his enrollment and approval in the academy is still a mystery to us."

The director watched the hologram for a few more moments, his eyes fixed on the boy with black hair and blue eyes. A look of concern formed on his wrinkled face, revealing that there was more behind the student's mysterious enrollment.

As the video faded, the director murmured to himself: "This boy… he's an enigma. And it seems that the mystery surrounding him is just beginning to unfold."

With a heavy sigh, the director stood up and walked to the window, lost in thought. "Lizy, my dear, it seems we'll have to keep a close eye on this new student. Who knows what secrets he might be hiding…"
