Affinities, whether elemental or related to weapons, pertain to natural talents. With elemental affinities, you cannot employ techniques utilizing elements for which you lack affinity. Concerning weapon affinities, while you can wield weapons unrelated to your natural affinity, your proficiency will be exponentially weaker compared to someone possessing affinity for that weapon.
