In the next few days, Orgarkov received news from each part of the union about the news of many officers. Many of them had 'accidents', falling from tall buildings, falling from stairs, and getting crashed by trucks. Some have committed suicide, leaving letters and evidence admitting they did something sorry to the country, party and people, getting shot from the back and identified as suicide. Some died because of various diseases, stroke, heart attack and others.
These officers included Tikhon Kiselyov, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Belarus, and Nikolai Shchelokov, Minister of Internal Affairs. Especially Nikolai, who committed suicide after being stripped of his rank and awards, just like him in another parallel world.
Desperate time, desperate measure. The KGB did not collect sufficient evidence that will be used to charge them in court or prepare lawyers for them, because the KGB themselves are the judges, and they have their own rules.
People who heard the news are speculating about every possible scenario that could have happened to these individuals. As expected, some believe it was orchestrated by enemy states, while others think it was merely another round of power struggles or purges.
However, the peak of the anti-corruption campaign happens in the Uzbekistan SSR.
Tashkent, the capital of the SSR,
The residents of the city were looking at the internal security forces on the street in horror. More than 10,000 internal troops that originally belonged to the internal minister were used to participate in this operation with their BTR and tanks. Of course, those officers who were investigated and accused of being corrupt have been replaced by KGB officers.
The garrison in the city received an emergency order the night before and was transferred to other places, and immediately the internal and KGB forces entered and took control of the city and declared martial law. Now the city is only left with the internal and KGB forces, guarding every street.
A helicopter formation formed by 3 MI-24 flying low altitude above the city, and broadcasting began to convey orders from Moscow to the entire city.
"Attention, citizens of Tashkent. This is an official message from Moscow, the government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, authorized by Comrade Yuri Andropov, General Secretary of the Communist Party and head of the Supreme Council on Anti-Corruption Affairs.
The traitor of our country and party, Sharaf Rashidov and his administration have violated the trust of the people by exploiting state resources and undermining the values of socialism. Their actions have threatened the integrity and prosperity of our Union and will no longer be tolerated.
All state functions under the Rashidov administration are suspended. No further orders from any official associated with this administration are to be acknowledged or followed.
To all patriotic citizens, to the working men and women of Tashkent, this is your time to stand for integrity. Support the justice campaign. Any resistance to this operation will be considered an obstruction of justice and met with the full force of the law.
Long live the USSR. Long live the unity and honour of the Soviet people."
Meanwhile, Rashidov was still packing up his luxury goods and gold in his mansion.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! This trick has always worked, why doesn't it work this time?"
The Center Committee knows what he has done, but for many years, they chose to ignore him, he also uses tribute and bribes to those in higher ranks in exchange for protection.
He wants to escape the country, even though he does not know what is outside the country's border. But he knows that if he leaves the country he may die, but if he does not leave he will certainly die.
However, this time, his hopes had broken, and a series of sudden brake sounds rang out downstairs from him. He looked down at it through the windows; a few tens of soldiers with their guns were rushing to the main doors.
Seeing this he stopped packaging all his luxury goods and gold, and immediately ran out of his office in his mansion, ignoring his wife and child who were awakened by the brake sounds, he only hopped that he could run away from the rear doors before the KGB soldiers came to him.
Unfortunately, the KGB soldiers are well-trained elite, and they move faster than him, before he leaves his bedroom, the door is kicked open. A few AKs immediately pointed at his head. This scared him to raise both of his hands.
"Well, well, Comrade Secretary Rashidov, where do you want to go?" A Major has walked into his room.
But Rashidov who got scared, how will he now have the guts to answer the Major question?
"Never mind you don't need to answer, you know why we are here. Comrades, have some room service to our Comrade Secretary's mansion!"
Soldiers behind get into the room and start their searching, in a short time, all his luxuries and gold have been taken out and laid on the ground together.
"Wow, Comrade Secretary, looks like you are just like a capitalist. Well, let us not waste our time, according to the procedure, I will still need to announce your crime."
The major cleared his throat, took out a paper from his pocket and started announcing.
"Sharaf Rashidov, under orders from Moscow to increase cotton production, you have been reporting inflated figures regarding the area of land irrigated and harvested, boasting of record improvements in both production and efficiency. However, there exists a significant disparity between the amount of cotton your administration claims to produce and the actual output."
"What you have done is destroy the ecological system of the republic, particularly in the Karakalpakstan region. The rivers that once fed the Aral Sea were diverted to irrigate cotton fields, leading to the sea's receding. As the ecological situation deteriorated, cotton production fell. How many extra subsidies has you get from the Central Committee, and how many of it has actually go into you pocket?"
"By orders from the Lubyanka, your actions are intolerable, and I am here to announce that you have been sentenced to death. Any objections?"
Even though he was aware of his fate, when he heard the announcement of his death sentence, he fainted and collapsed.
Before his body hit the floor, someone grabbed him by his clothes to prevent his fall, and he was punched in the face to wake him up.
"This seems to be good news for you, making you have a nice sleep on the spot."
"You must be wondering why your previous trick failed. Do you think the KGB is foolish enough to believe that a few thousand reports and complaint letters are all slanders? Those who accept your bribes and believe your words are now confessing and atoning for their crimes to Lenin and Marx. My mission is to send you to meet them and do the same. "
"Have ever thought of those soldiers who are fighting in the front? The weather is getting low, but how will they feel when their officers tell them that they are not going to get enough warm coats because the factory does not have enough cotton to produce for them? Nah, I don't think you ever think of them, and I don't think you have any chance to feel."
"Do you have any last words?"
He did not speak any word in the whole process of judgment, and now, when he speaks, will be his last word. Until now, he only raises his head and speaks his last word slowly.
"Can you not do it in front of my children, and possibly can I have a complete body, I don't want to die ugly."
Listened to his last words, the major nodded his head, not some hard requirement.
"Alright, sign this confession, and you will exchange for your wife and children's lives, but of course, they will work in Siberia for the rest of their lives. It is good you know, Siberia has become warm now. And you are lucky, some of your family members, relatives and friends are going to accompany you not long later."
Rashidov took the pen with trembling hands and signed his name on the confession. Everything has been done.
"Alright bring him outside."
Two soldiers immediately escorted him out from the left and right.
"Knee down."
"I have a few options for you to choose how you want to die. First, I will hang up here, you keep your complete body, but it will be pain and suffering. Second, I will shoot a hole in your head, it will be a small hole in the front but a big hole behind, you still get the chance to keep most of your body, and you won't suffer any pain."
"Is there a third option?"
"Yes, but I am not sure whether the Comrade Chairman will approve this one or not, and you will not get your body complete.
"What was that?"
"I will bring you to somewhere not far from here, Baikonur, and tie you on a rocket, the problem with this option is that it gathers all the bad things about the other option, you will first suffer painfully, and you won't get any part of your body find. Are you interested in this option?"
"Well fine, I will just choose the second one."
"Alright."
A gunshot sounded, and another corrupt one went to confess and atone for his crimes to Lenin and Marx.
"How will a people that is going to die have so many problems?"
The major joking with people around.
