'Throw everything else away.'
Lukas repeated this mantra to himself, over and over again, all to keep himself focused; to remind himself about how dangerous this fight was, and how he needed to overcome it.
But, though it had only been less than half an hour, every part of him hurt. It was hard to keep going by this point, difficult to find the will to keep fighting. He told himself to fight, fight the Ghast of Shorstone so that it couldn't hurt anyone else.
But in reality? Lukas was scared.
He was scared of the Ghast of Shorstone, afraid of what it could do and afraid he would succumb to the same fear he felt back then, all those months ago. But, he was also scared of how far he would have to go in order to defeat it.
He repeated his mantra to remind himself about the here and now.
