Lukas left shortly after the conversation with Jamie died. He had no reason to stay in the canteen and it would be awkward if he had to stay, especially if they sat apart. If they sat next to each other, it would be worse.
Either way, he wanted to leave anyway, he needed some fresh air, even if it was a slightly metaphorical statement. The sun still wasn't up, although the faintest whisper of its light barely lit the edge of the eastern sky. But he didn't want to go outside just for that.
Yet, he did anyway.
He found his way outside and enjoyed the slight chill in the air, relative to summer at least. It was nice, barely windy, not too warm or cold, with no clouds, and no harsh weather. More importantly, the air was fresh and calming. This close to Shorstone the air reminded him of the past and calmed his worries.
