Lukas woke up in the early morning before the sun rose. He had spent the rest of the day before bouncing from one time-killing task to another. With a mix of hunger and exhaustion, he fell asleep sometime in the evening. He didn't even see or speak to Oak before he fell asleep.
But now, he lay on his back staring at the ceiling. Even without moving, he knew Oak was asleep beneath him at the bottom of the two beds. His muddled, slowly waking mind stirred as he contemplated what to do. But one thing became clear to him, that being why he had woken up.
He stirred and tried to sleep, but a constant caving feeling in his stomach caused him to begrudgingly crawl out of bed and make his way to get something to eat.
Sitting in the canteen, he slowly ate the lukewarm food that remained this early in the morning. It wasn't the most pleasant thing he'd eaten before, he could remember worse. But there was a certain sadness to the scene before him.
