Deep in his slumber, Lukas dreamt of his family. He played with his siblings and helped his mother and father. He saw his mother at the height of her sickness, how warm her smile was even through the pain. He saw his father coming home with firewood and food for the family.
But, he didn't take part in it, we watched from outside. He watched himself, a younger version of himself, play with his siblings. He watched himself help his mother and father. He wasn't even himself in his own dream.
'...Why can't I join in?'
At first, he took the form of a bird who watched through the window. Although this was a dream, he had a level of control over it. It was not completely lucid, he could not control every facet of it. But he was aware of it and could think at the very least.
