When Bene left Lukas and Karve he only had one thing on his mind. He wanted nothing more than to pay Reiden what he was owed. They knew their father had been murdered, but even then he still went and killed an innocent man. If that was all, Bene could forgive him so long as he received his due punishment.
But no, he vanished from the world only to resurface as the leader of a gang in Barebreach. Extortion, murder, procuring illegal weapons and trade goods, the list goes on. He wasn't responsible for every one of these crimes but he did spearhead their approval. He was just as responsible.
Although he was going against his orders, what Bene was doing was a good service. Even if it was selfish, the gang would be dissolved and the remaining members would slowly be tracked down and caught. Either from the regular division of the Fortissimo or the band of soldiers rumoured to be arriving in Barebreach a few weeks from now.
