Deep down, Lukas knew there was a chance he would die. The Ghast of Shorstone was a truly terrifying force of nature, one he knew the grand scale of on a deeply personal level. But, to hear this deep fear stated so plainly, without any remorse and without holding anything back, it startled him.
He couldn't put his feelings into words, and his thoughts were similarly frazzled. He, like anyone, didn't want to die. But, unlike everyone else, he had come the closer anyone possibly could. He had nearly died over a dozen times. He had even temporarily died, or so he believed at the time, not that he could remember it now.
Yet, this statement still shook him. To hear so matter-of-factly that he would most likely die fighting the one thing he previously sought after was somewhat disheartening. Not only that, that statement wasn't directed toward him, it was toward everyone in the room.
"We might die," Bene said, not "You might die."
