Lukas continued to converse with Oak for some time after, even inevitably playing one more game with him that ended in Lukas' victory. After said game, they departed. Oak left for the canteen for dinner. Lukas, on the other hand, didn't want to eat.
Instead, he walked around, in between the buildings, admiring the world as the evening sun hung in the sky. It wasn't dusk quite yet, and the sky still resembled a time indistinguishable from noon. But still, the shadows stretched like painted strokes.
As he made his way past the centre building and towards the western building, he saw a figure approaching from the southwest. As he looked out at them, it quickly became apparent it was Kai. Lukas walked towards Kai.
He looked bloodied, covered in minute scratches and small streams of blood. His face looked partly dead, devoid of emotion, and his eyes looked through and past Lukas, in fact, they looked at nothing at all.
"Hey, Kai, are you alright?"
