Alex watched, his heart pounding in a mixture of awe and revulsion, as the System he'd entrusted his body to observed from a safe distance. The battlefield was quiet now, save for the surreal scene unfolding before them.
The monster, split into two by the fierce combat, began to stir. Its halves, one green and one blue lay on the ground, their severed edges starting to twitch and then, astonishingly, to stand on one misshapen foot. Gooey, dark blood oozed from their forms, pooling on the ground like a macabre waterfall.
First, it was the green half that caught their attention. It regenerated with an unnatural speed, its flesh knitting together starting from the stomach, moving to the leg, then the arm, the chest, and finally the neck.
The process was grotesquely fascinating, ending with a creature that, while more humanoid in appearance than before—with one head, two arms, and two legs—looked like a nightmare's patchwork doll.
