Alex's footsteps echoed in the damp corridors of the cave, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. He couldn't stop thinking about Lena, about how she had vanished without a trace.
With each weighted step, the lights coming out of his body due to the crystals cast eerie shadows on the cave walls, turning stalactites into ghostly figures.
He continued to call out Lena's name, his voice growing more desperate with each echo that returned unanswered.
His mind was a whirlwind of worry and guilt.
'Should I have done anything differently? Should I have kept her with me? But she would have definitely died. Sh*t...Why did I let her go alone? If I wasn't so selfish, I could have used Darkness and got both of us out of there.'
'What if something has happened to her?' He chastised himself; all his prior happiness was thrown out the window. Now, the guilt was gnawing at him with every step.
